[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's not the heavy duty steel filing cabinet of old, but the steel is heavy enough. Drawers slide easily, cabinet lock secures all drawers. Metal adjustments can be placed in drawers that are not full so that files don't slide about. Overall, it's well made and functional.

Perfect Document Storage

Was looking for a file cabinet that was affordable, but not cheaply built. 






I was looking for an affordable file cabinet that was not cheaply built.  I found it in this one.  Construction is solid, drawers glide smoothly in and out, positive latching when fully closed, well balanced, hanging file folders fit comfortably in the drawers, and subtly attractive.  Overall, a good value for the price.

Good Value

I got it fast. It's exactly what I need. It came with a dent in the back but I'm keeping it because I just need storage and the top drawer has no damages inside.

Exactly what I needed!

Greetings from Florida! For the price, it is a good unit and definitely a more-than-adequate files-maintenance & storage file. The price is the dead giveaway on what the "Material" might be, i.e., not the strongest nor best high-end quality of metal but, a well put together and very functional unit overall. If it were to be located in an outside-type environment (like a garage or shed), I would definitely have opted for, and paid the higher price, for a much more solid and heavier metal quality unit. For inside files storage, it will more than handle whatever ones Administrative needs arise. The one particular "item" that clinched the sale for me was, that the "drawer-shelving top edging" are fashioned/designed in a manner to accommodate "letter-sized, hanging folders"; WITHOUT the need to purchase/use additional runner-type "hanging folder type bar units" - a great added design feature to be sure. If it had been a much more sold metal unit, I would easily have given it a 5-star rating; but of course, for that added quality it all boils down to "if you want to dance, ya' gotta' pay the band". Since it will be an inside files-maintenance cabinet, I did not feel it necessary for investing any extra: the unit is an excellent buy just as it stands!

Hirsch Industries 3000-series, 4-dr File Cabinet

I purchased this metal file cabinet because I ran out of room in my two-drawer wooden file cabinet. The cabinet is well made and operates perfectly. The drawers all roll out smoothly when loaded. The design makes it easy to file hanging folders using the file folders designed for that purpose. This makes it easier to keep track of expenses and obligations. I would recommend to a friend.
File cabinets come in many different price ranges, with the love end ($50-100) being metal cabinets without rolling drawers. The rolling drawers is in my opinion an essential feature, so I went for a moderate price of $200 for a four drawer cabinet. I knew how much space I needed, so it was easy to choose this one. For much higher prices you can go into wood file cabinets.

Good buy on a file cabinet

I bought this cabinet to replace a two drawer one that was damaged and no longer provided the storage capacity I needed.  Based on the 4 star reviews, I bought this from Walmart due to their price being the best.
The tracking of the package was off and it came on a Wednesday instead of Friday when I had taken time off work to be present at delivery.  The FedEx man left if in front of my door and I had to move the package that was heavy and bulky so I could open my door.  After much trouble in getting it into the house and into my office space, I opened the box to find that the cabinet was damaged and the top drawer containing the key and instruction would not open.  
Called Walmart and was told that I would have to contact Cymax directly for a refund/exchange.  I did and the customer service person was nice and took care of my problem.  I sent the two photos as requested and waited for a confirmation of my replacement.  After a week without word, called Cymax again and the customer service rep looked and said they would process my request.  
Everything appeared fine until the FedEx person delivered 3 days ahead of schedule.  My neighbor happened to see him leaving the pkg in front of my door and told him "How do you expect a 64 yr old woman to move that out of the way so she can open her front door."  FedEx person told her "Not my problem, I deliver."  He was rude and would not move the pkg until my neighbor threatened to contact FedEx.  Finally an agreement was made to leave the package inside my door, but he would only leave it on the threshold, which meant the front door could not be closed.   Another argument ensued because FedEx person would not move it 6 inches so my door could be closed.
Upon opening this box, found a dent on the side.  This dent will not hinder the use of the cabinet and I will not bother calling Cymax.  This has been an experience that has left me wishing Amazon had had the better deal.  I have never experienced these problems with an Amazon purchase or delivery.

Not a good item for the price

I am sure that the filing cabinet was going to be very good, but it arrived damaged and the bottom drawer did not function correctly....so it had to be sent back.
