I am a fifty year old habitual runner who stands 6'6" and weights ~280lbs. I wear a size 16 (4E) shoe. I was hesitant to purchase the GEL-Kayano 28, as I was so pleased with the 27 that I bought every available color scheme. I wondered what, if anything, Asics could do to improve on that model. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! The 28's heel box offers a much more secure fit than the 27's and my foot strike feels less jarring. The GEL-Kayano 28 has replaced its predecessor as my go-to running shoe! Now, I'm just waiting on the new color schemes!

I love Asics but hate that they offer so little in a 4E shoe. I'm left choosing from either the worst color combinations known to man, or plain black. I went with black. Very comfortable but very plain looking.

Very plain and boring

Even though the shoes I ordered were considered extra wide, the heal area of the shoes were narrow which resulted in pressure on the back of my feet and heel.   Not what I expected.  I will only wear these shoes occasionally when IK don't have to do much walking.

Wide but narrow

ive been running ~800miles a year for the last decade. Ive alternated between Brooks, Hokas, and Asics.  Was super excited about the new Gel-Kayano 28s but was let down. 4E feels way too snug. the toe box is just wide enough, but the arch and heel are super narrow. All the cushioning seems to be at the heel with very little cushioned on the rest of the shoe. Also, one of the most annoying things is the heel/ankle opening is way too short. If you wear short socks to run, they are gonna get rolled down into the shoe. it needs to be at least an inch higher. feels like i'm running in a slip-on shoe.

Too Snug and Too Short

I've wore kayanos since 14s... the last two have been pretty terrible, something has changed with the design and or manufacturing... time to find a new favorite shoe for the OR... tragic and sad

Tragic and sad

I have had many Gel Kayano 4E shoes over the years. They always fit me perfectly. However the width of the 28 is different than all previous models {more narrow} and was not comfortable for me.

Too Narrow and not consistent with previous models

Unfortunately, I cannot give these shoes a good review. I have owned many Asics in the past, and I have loved them. However, I ordered the extra wide, and these are still pretty narrow. They are comfortable to walk in, I only wore them around the house. However, my wife accidentally threw the tags away, so now I am unable to return them because to return them the policy says that you have to have the original tags. Stuck w shoes that don't fit lol

Too Narrow

This is the opposite of Kayano 27; doesn't fit well. What have you done? Can u make your shoe size for average person. The normal 10.5 has to get a 11.5 in ASICS w 4E; that too depends from the type. Kayano 11.5 4E fits well but the same number size in Nimbus is too tight and unstable

What have you done to Kayano, no comfort

I bought the extra wide and they feel to narrow. For some reason the got rid of the plastic plate on the heel. I returned them. Don't waste your money.

Don't waste your money

Midsole stability eliminated.  Sole stability overall reduced by switch to softer foam.  Shoe liner thinner.  Shoe laces lower quality.  Overall it looks and feels like they based the design around how much they could simplify and reduce their cost as it only looks like a Kayano from the top.

MAJOR downgrade from Kayano 25/26/27
