first time using this brand. It was great and I will recommend to all. although it seems more expensive, you use less to get jam to set up versus other liquid brand. price can vary from stores, so watch where you buy from. There was a $2 savings at Walmart.

Great for making jam.  Its been a while, but using a full jar of this pectin made the jam thick enough.  Just had to let it sit in the fridge overnight

Necessity when making jam.

I was so happy to find this pectin, when I make jam I like to use honey  and/or less sugar. I was using the Bernardin no sugar but found out this year that Home Hardware has discontinued it. It is cheaper to buy online :) It also arrived within 3 days

It worked very well however there are no instructions for use included with the product. I had to find them online on the Ball website.

Good product using much less sugar!

This is the best pectin for making unsweetened or low sugar spreads that I've found in over 4 decades of making homemade jam, and after years of teaching others how to do it.  I have a lot of fruit in my back yard, so it's handy to be able to measure out the amount of pectin needed for the amount of fruit I have ready to make into jam at any given time.  Roughly, use 1 tbsp of pectin for each cup of crushed fruit, and I boil it hard for about 2 minutes before filling the sterilized sealers.  You can use stevia syrup, or agave syrup, or apple juice concentrate, or a small amount of sugar to sweeten, or just use very ripe fruit that needs no sweetener at all.  With certain fruits, like grapes or apples, or if you add almost as much sugar as fruit, you can get away with using less pectin and still have a decent set, but there is some trial and error involved and you need to keep track of what works best over several batches.  The only real downside to this product is that I have never found it at a reduced price, though I must concede that the price of the re-sealable container is better than buying individual cartons of pectin.  One other criticism is the lack of instructions or guidelines on the package; even a rough guideline like 1 tbsp pectin to 1 cup crushed fruit would be helpful for many users, and a note to add pectin and juice concentrate or sugar (if using) before boiling, but to stir in Stevia, Agave or Splenda just before filling the sealers.

The best pectin for making reduced sugar spreads

I ordered three containers of the Ball Realfruit Low or No-sugar Needed Pectin and one has cuts in the top seal.   I'm not even sure how that happens with the plastic lid on, but it is very disappointing.

No instructions on how to use on bottle. Found one on Ball website but the results wer disappointing.  Runny and overly sweet despite using less sugar.

Don't bother buy8ng

Every other pectin I've ever used has come with recipes.  This one not only does not provide recipes, its process is totally opposite to that of every other pectin.  So, to find out how to use it, one must go to the internet.  Even the Ball website does not have usable recipes. Everything is guess work.  The first recipe on their site provides instructions to use their jam making machine to make strawberry jam.  I've been making jam for fifty years - i don't need to buy a machine to do it for me.  And i find strawberry jam to be boring- i want to have recipes for other fruits.  I just need a variety of recipes which tell me how much fruit, how much sugar, how much pectin, and the steps to follow. Recipes are essential for a product where the instructions are crirical (according to one commenter who used the Ball pectin the "normal" way, it was a total failure (inedible) and she wasted all the fruit she bought , nor to mention her valuable time).

I just made my first batch of jam using this Ball pectin and it doesn't seem to be setting properly.  This, after spending hours scouring the internet for recipes, then more hours making up my own recipe, based on my experience with other brands, and of course, following the advice of the woman who learned the hard way what not to do.
