Formulation has changed and the product is now too watery and soft. It is reasonably firm if undisturbed, but deflates like a blowup toy and dissolves into a puddle once you start to use it. Water is the free ingredient and I seem to remember that the percentage used to be 57%. It is now 60%. If the aim is to increase profits cheaply, it might backfire. Consumers are not going to stand by an inferior product.

I bought this because there was literally nothing else on the shelf at my local store. I don't find anything wrong with the taste though didn't realize it's not recommended for frying with so that makes it somewhat useless. What I don't like is how soft it is...like sit out on my counter for a couple hours and it is all melted on top. Even in my fridge it doesn't seem to re-solidify. Can't afford to waste it but hoping there are more options when I have to buy again.

Just okay

Have the same problem with the latest Becel Light bought in Oct. Slides off knife before you get it out of the tub. It also looks whiter than the last tub I had to compare it with and it looks like it's been 'whipped' more to give a lighter texture (I bet it also decreases the actual amount of Becel in the tub - more profit). Something has definitely changed as we have used this for years and years

Becel Light has changed - sliding off knife

Have used this product for years and, in my mind,it was a five star product until recently something has changed. It no longer functions as a “spread”.  It keeps sliding off the knife before it can even be applied. I have resorted to holding the container over top off the bread so I can scoop it onto the bread. The it just absorbs like an oil. I have made additional purchases thinking that i had bought an abnormal batch. Each successive purchase behaved the same way. It won't stay on a knife.

Have they changed something?

I agree with all the comments and I thought with myself that I was the only one to notice the difference until I did some research on becel light margarine , it's way more watery and can barely stay on the knife when you get some to spread on your toast, I had to put a thermometer inside my fridge because I thought it was not cold enough but nothing is wrong with my fridge

This margarine I take for several years but since a few months it has changed more oily base less good plant oil to taste no longer fits on the rune and on the bread. Very disappointing view disappointing price increase disappointing I will look to change so yet it's been years I loved you but no longer now bad recipe return to your old recipe S"V"P"

It's not the same margarine anymore.

I have been buying this margarine for several years and have always been very satisfied with it. However, for several months the product has changed a lot. Margarine becomes full of water to the point of having to drain the water. Margarine becomes very liquid and it is impossible to spread it. For such an expensive product it is very disappointing to see that the quality is really no longer there. This product should not even be sold. I love...

Very very bad product

It sounds like the formula has changed? We bought Becel light for years and we're very pleased with the product.  But lately , not sure when.. 6 months? The product is watery and falls off the knife. Would like to hear from Becel as to the reason & if there are plans to reformulate. As of now we have decided to try other alternatives.

What happened to Becel Light?

I assume that it's a new recipe. It won't stay in the knife and has no taste. We have used Bacel Light for many years but will be looking for a better option. Really, really disappointed! The big price jump would have been easier to take if the quality had remained the same.

Terrible new recipe

Agree with all the comments about the new Becel Light now sliding off the knife. What concerns me more is that the nutrition has gone down. In comparison, the previous version had 30% daily value of Vitamin D and 15% for Vitamin E. Now it has 10% for each. When a food company reformulates its product but doesn't announce "New and Improved", you can bet it's not. I've been a long time buyer of Becel but I've now bought my last tub.  I can get the higher value of vitamins for a lower price with an alternate company. Vitamin D is important. It would appear that Becel/Unilever is putting profits before nutrition.

And now less nutritious

My family has used this for years but after being diagnosed with gallstones it was a godsend for me.. PLEASE don't ever discontinue this product as for many people who can't have much fat it is the only margarine they can use and is a really good flavour and consistancy. It's a little harder to find recently, especially the smaller size. Hopefully just a shipping thing.. I look forward to restocking!
