I like how creamy it is. I was baffled as to how to sharpen. No indication on box. I twisted. Tried to push on the end like a pen....finally googled this website and saw that it needs sharpened with an eyeliner sharpener. I tried that and it worked! I hope you will put instructions on packaging in future.

Happy now that I figured out how to sharpen.

While surfing covergirls web site I happened on the reviews for the Katy Kat Eye Eyeliner which I have been using for a several months.  I was surprised at the reviews about the sharpening issues and went back to look at my sharpener and realized the sharpener I've owned for too long to remember is a cover girl 2 hole sharpener.  One for large and the other for small cosmetic pencils.  These sharpeners are relatively inexpensive and apparently make a difference in the longevity of the product.  To Maybelline;   You should declare on the packaging “for best results in sharpening a cover girl sharpener should be used.”   To all you ladies who like the pencil.. give it up and buy a cover girl sharpener.  You will be glad you did.

An overall good product that's getting a bad rap

So many reviews have mentioned the difficulty in sharpening this pencil.   The company replies are a laugh saying that this is a surprise to them.  Did anyone in the company ever try it themselves?   What tough plastic coating is encasing the liner??  Maybe it would melt off over a candle.   Back to the drawing board or provide us with the diamond edged sharpener that could cut through this thing or provide the Perfect Plus self sharpening eyeliner in white.

Loved this product, UNTIL it needed sharpening....I am not new to make-up/eyeliner and am well aware that an actual eyeliner sharpener must be used, which I used, however, the product consistently breaks/off clogs up the eyeliner sharpener, and I end up getting more of this eyeliner all over my fingers & hands just trying to sharpen it than I can get onto my eyes. I bought this eyeliner five days ago, & after the first time it needed sharpening, it's down to 1/2 a stick and not enough protrusion of product to use.

Total garbage/waste of money

This was my favorite eyeliner pencil UNTIL it needed to be sharpened!   Tried my dual cosmetic sharpener that has worked out every pencil I've ever owned to no avail.  Finally read the reviews here and went in search of the exclusive sharpener -  after trying three stores, I'm giving up and buying something user friendly.

Frustrating

I bought this product a couple of weeks ago and will never buy it again!  The liner went on with some difficulty, took a bit of work to get it right; it did look okay when I finished.  But then I ran into the same problem that so many of you had: I couldn't figure out how to get to the rest of the product.  I tried twisting, then I tried a sharpener, and broke the blade on that.  Tried another and that made a horrible mess.  It seemed like the "pencil" part was made of plastic.  I just couldn't get another point to be created.  I finally ended up breaking the pencil in half and throwing it away.  I use a lot of Cover Girl products, and mostly they are fine.  Sometimes I don't care for how the look turns out, but that is just my reference.  this one frustrated me terribly.  If I could give it less than one star I would.

What A Mess!!!

I was so excited about this eyeliner and loved how it came out. However after having to Google how to actually sharpen it, because God forbid the company actually gives you instructions on how to use their product, the thing broke my shapener. Not only that, but when my brilliant self went to use a different sharpener, it broke that one as well. Considering the price of this particular eyeliner, it was a total waste of my money. Never, ever, again.

Garbage buy, never again

I bought this 2 months ago and I agree I tried to sharpen it and I had no luck. It stinks to buy something and not get to finish it. There should of been something on the package to say we needed a special sharpener. I love the eyeliner, but I will not be purchasing it again.

Great eyeliner

1st time sharpening, broke a portion of the eyeliner and the smudging tip snapped off.  The advertisement makes it look like you can get a clean line, not so.  Will not repurchase, most likely will not use it before replacing with something else.

I bought this today thinking it was mechanic but as soon as I opened it the liner broke and I wasn't able to use it. What a waste of money. I would never buy this again.
