I wore a pair of Precips on a hike over the Chilkoot Trail August 8-12. On the 10th we hiked with wind-driven rain at our backs from Sheep Camp, over the pass to Happy Camp, about seven hours. My legs stayed warm and dry, although the inside fabric became a little clammy around the calves several hours into the day. I would recommend them based on this trip, but without knowing how durable they will be over time.

first of all: Marmot delivered the right product, and quickly as promised.
In order to know if the pants are really waterproof, I have to wait for the raining season (in Israel).
But: I have another pair of waterproof pants from the same manufacturer for years, and is perfect. That is the reason that I bought that one too.
It looks also elegant for that kind of stuff.

Bought two (wife andI)... comfortable, easy on/off over pants, or just on their own, great pocket and leg closure zippers...

Easy on and off

I just got these Precip pants. I haven't worn them in the rain yet but I figure there are plenty of reviews that talk about protection and breath-ability. So, I'll just give you some information about fit.

I'm 6'0" tall with a 34" waist and 32" inseam along with a fairly muscular 210 lb build. I looked at the size charts and chose the "regular length" (32" inseam) in size Large. Bingo! If I wear them with only a pair of shorts, they are just a little bit roomy in the butt and legs. If I wear them over a pair of jeans, they are just right in the butt and legs to allow freedom of movement. I think that's the sweet spot for me.

The fabric is a nice tight ripstop. It makes that annoying nylon on nylon swish sound common to this synthetic fabric when you walk in them. But, I don't see anyone else selling a lightweight waterproof pant that doesn't do the same thing. So, I can't knock the Precip pants for that.

On the other hand, they are indeed lightweight and packable and I'm willing to put up with nylon noise if it means I'll stay warm and dry on a rainy day. Like all Marmot products I own, they appear well designed and well made of good quality fabrics and zippers.

Just an FYI, I combined these pants with a Precip jacket, a Precip safari hat, and a Zeus down jacket as my 3 season "all weather gear" for the trail. And it's all stuff I can use around town as well. I'm really happy with the total package from a performance and value perspective.

Great lightweight and packable rain pants

Been wearing them for a few weeks now.  Comfortable, good fit, and keep me dry.  I'm 5'9" and the large size worked for me.

Love them.

I used for 2 days of pouring rain and cool tempuratures. Provided just the right amount of warmth for June camping conditions when the weather turns bad.

Finally a tall sized rain pant

Bought these for my husband who is doing some work outside in rough terrain. He loves them! He stayed dry in 12+ hours of rain without getting sweaty inside.

Kept dry

This purchase was to replace the identical pair I accidentally left in a truck while visiting Tikal, the Mayan ruins in Guatemla. Light weight and cool, shedding rain, even in the heat of Central America!

Nice quality,features.

The PreCip pant seemed like a perfect when I first used them. I like the zip up leg bottoms. Unfortunately the NanoPro lining wore away quickly in places there there was some rubbing from my rain boots and other areas where there's lots of flexing. As soon as the lining wore away my clothes underneath got wet.
I bought these from another retailer in 2017. Newer versions might be more durable.
