Build Quality

After an extensive search for a replacement microwave I decided on this Danby .  It is such a good microwave .. great features and was able to figure out many functions without the manual .. .Once again Danby comes through with great product and great quality and of course Walmart with the greatest price !!

This is a great little microwave. Has all the features you want, heats things well, holds a medium size dinner plate, pops popcorn, beautifully, and is excellent value for the price. My only quibble is the door lock feature; it requires you to press unlock before you can open the microwave oven. An extra step which is a bit irritating and seems unnecessary. Otherwise it's perfect.

Danby microwave is a good quality. Had one for 30 years still works. I just accidentally hit one of the lever on the door lock panel  that's why I need to but a new one rather than that still works!

Pros: I like the compact size for a 900 watt microwave 
 - the child safety lock can be turned off 
 - the sound can be turned off (although lowering the volume would be much better) 
 
Cons: the keypad cover is too thin. I predict that it will be cracking with repetitive use.
 - operating the microwave with the sound is LOUD (this is the kind of loudness that I would like on a toaster oven. (Why? Majority of the cooking time with a microwave I am in the kitchen, with the toaster oven, I am not. Therefore volume is needed in the finished time buzzer.) 
 - the turntable does not run quietly. (Maybe the plate does not fit the rolling ring underneath it properly ?? Too much wiggle room.)

The sound of the timer is LOUD

The microwave looks good and works well but I do not like the door on it , never thought opening and closing the door would be so loud , I like the old Danby microwave much better in that aspect , all it had was a handle to pull on to open the door and was nice and quiet , the microwave works well and has a lot of nice options that I will never use and is a bit more complicated than the old one , meaning I have to push more buttons to do the same thing .

I bought this to replace an older Danby, same size and appearance.  This unit is very flimsy and the user menu, which was very easy and convenient on my old unit, is now very complicated and finicky.  You have to be much more careful how you enter cooking time or chose a starting method.   You have to be careful and watch it because it will burn food really easily.  The unit itself is lighter and the feet under it don't hold it in place.  Just pushing the door open button causes the entire unit to move instead.  It will slide off the counter onto the floor unless you are careful.  This model doesn't have even ten percent of the quality of my old model, or the Danby I had before that.
