Mounted on a 2007 Ford Focus SE replacing the required Motocraft CCA590 minmum, the 40R with CCA650, the car started easily today with a polar cold. Tip: Apply white grease to both terminals to block corrosion and make the start-up crest more powerful/buy more than the CCA required by the battery selectors. at least 50 CCA higher.

Good battery at the right price

I was worried about the fit because the original Motorcraft battery was such a tight squeeze, but the Maxx 40R fit my 2006 Ford Fusion perfectly (which means it also should fit the virtually identical Mazda 6). I thought it would be manufactured by Johnson Controls, like some Maxx batteries and the Motorcraft battery it replaced, but it is an East Penn and has even higher Cold Cranking Amps (650 vs 590). So I'm very happy with the purchase.

Fits perfectly in my 06 Ford Fusion

Stone dead in 2.75 years

Particular battery was manufactured in Turkey. Replacement was manufactured in Austria, so hopefully have better luck. 

The warranty return process was fairly painless though. Just make sure that your local store has one in stock.

Failed at just under 3 years
