Looking to redye leather? Putting a new dye on existing finish is a difficult business. When touching up, redyeing, or refinishing leather, solvent-based dyes like Fiebing's are extremely unpredictable, and are not recommended. Fiebing's is best used on natural, vegetable tanned leather, with no existing finish. *IMPORTANT* - This item is not available in California. Once I figured out I should be wiping on with a rag and not the little applicator I got the results I wanted. I was dyeing a recliner - not a small item though.  Chair looks great again.

Interesting color. It's supposed to be dark brownish-red but when it's dry it kinda looks metallic copper. Not a bad color tho.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This leather dye is alright, but it's not amazing. The color was pretty true to what I expected, and it did cover the leather. However, I suggest you go darker or darkest you can for the best coverage! It's not the easiest to work with if you're a beginner. I definitely recommend doing a test patch first! Also, be prepared to use a good sealant afterward! Overall, it's a decent product for the price, but don't expect professional-level results. It's fine for small projects or touch-ups, but I'd probably look for something better for anything bigger or more important!

OK for the price but not perfect!

I like this brand, having used it before to dye a few pairs of boots.
This particular version is called "Russet".
Russet is defined as a brown, specifically reddish-brown.
The color in the bottle however, though appearing dark brown when wet, dried as a yellow-orange on a pair of boots that were yellowish to begin with.
Yes, I stripped the boots prior to applying the dye; I've done this before.
It IS a nice shade, just not the shade I was after: medium brown

Russet is NOT the Color

Color was not what I expected , could not use the product.  Planning to return it this weekend.

Hard to color match.

l have used this product all my life.. This purple dye turned out gold.  l attempted remove it but because l had stripped the protective layer it was in the lether. The only thing l can do is buy more dye jope it covers the gold and does mo bleed through. What are you going to do to reimburse me and make.my.wife happy that her beand new pair lf sjies are not ruined
