I have owned and used just about every major fitness tracker on the market over the years, and I was constantly frustrated by sensor lag, pairing issues, and having to manage multiple apps just to get my training data. I finally made the switch to the Garmin ecosystem and I'm never looking back. 

This is hands down my forever tracker. I paired it with the Garmin hrm-200 chest strap. The real time lag free heart rate accuracy during high intensity training is unwatched and the handoff between the watch and the strap is completly automatic and flawless. 

If you want a bulletproof reliable system that just works without the headache of constant troubleshooting this is the absolute gold standard.

My Forever Tracker

I was leery about a garmin watch because I had an Apple Watch before and rarely ended up wearing it. This watch is super comfortable. Stays charged a really long time. Easy to use. I am much more aware of my health stats. I have already ordered one for my husband now too. And also my wrists are small and this is not too overwhelming or large.

Love my garmin 265

I’ve had the FR265 for about a month now—I switched from the FR165 after signing up for a triathlon and needing something that supports multisport mode. I love the bigger screen, better battery life, and the additional training metrics. I’ve been a Garmin user for a long time, and this watch really does a lot.

I’ve also used a few other brands (Apple and Coros). With Apple, I hated having to recharge daily and the lack of buttons. Coros was good, but very simple, and the ecosystem didn’t feel as refined. A small example: with Coros, if you leave the timer screen, it cancels the timer—Garmin keeps it running in the background.

Great all around watch

I had the Garmin Forerunner 245 and liked it very much. After it died (lasted nearly 6 years w/ daily, heavy use!) I briefly tried the newest Apple Watch and just couldn’t make the switch. It felt like Garmin was so much more intuitive. Briefly tried the Garmin Lily 2 Classic because I wanted something that looked more feminine and classy, which it did, but it wasn’t able to broadcast my heart rate to my bike trainer or track my activities independently of my phone. This Forerunner 265 is fantastic. It has everything I need, including a big face so I can read all the options easily even without my glasses, and it is organized intuitively, so I can find things simply. I highly recommend it!

All the Features I Need!

This watch has been a huge upgrade from my old forerunner 45, it didn’t have a flashlight function which now it does, it’s pretty nice actually, when I was sick it sent me messages that “some parameters were out of normal range” maybe it could detect issues that maybe you don’t feel symptoms of. I honestly think it’s so good because it tells me how I am doing based on the data it collects, totally different from forerunner 45. This watch is truly a spectacular design by Garmin I have to say.

Garmin Forerunner 265

Husband bought this for me as a birthday present! So far I Love it! It’s lightweight and easy to set up. I mainly use it for health info on sleep, stress and battery etc. unlike Apple Watch I love the simplicity of the watch itself. I also turned off notifications to prolong the battery. I’m so glad my husband gifted me this! We ended up getting our daughter one for her cross country!

Amazing features! Great Buy!

I use it to count strokes as I swim, and it’s the first watch to do this flawlessly. I’ve used the original Garmin Swim, the original Apple Watch, and the Apple Watch Series 2—this one is by far the best.

With the Garmin Swim, you had to push hard off the wall for it to register a turn. With the original Apple Watch, you had to avoid pushing off too hard or it wouldn’t register sometimes. This watch, however, perfectly registers turns no matter how hard or soft the push-off. Whether you’re doing gentle push-offs to maximize swim distance or aggressive flip turns with hard push-offs, it tracks perfectly. 

I used my Garmin Swim for years, replacing band after band. Apple Watches, on the other hand, are built with planned obsolescence, which really frustrates me. If you upgrade your phone, at some point the watch will stop pairing. That’s why I ended up using two different Apple Watches—something that made me genuinely angry. A watch should work until it physically breaks, not be rendered obsolete by software incompatibility. Shame on you, Apple. I own several iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Mac desktop—I’m not an Apple hater, but I do hate this particular behavior. Because of it, I’ll never buy another Apple Watch if there are good alternatives like this Garmin.

This watch registers strokes better than either of the others, and like the original Garmin, I expect it to work for years without being forced to upgrade.

Ditched my 2nd Apple Watch: it wouldn’t hold a charge during marathon training and Apple refused a new battery. 

It’s necessary to pair my headphones with my iPhone instead of my Forerunner 265. During long runs, I listen to music, but may have to take a call from family, and my Bluetooth Shockz can only pair to one device at a time. Otherwise, I loved my music playlist working from my Garmin.

I can’t read any texts during a run because the words are too tiny, but I do get a notification that family is texting me, often a needed boost, and I pull my phone to take a look.

I love the stats that my Garmin gives me and that I can post it directly to Strava, where my coaches can analyze them. Programming a workout in Garmin connect on my iPhone and sending it to my watch has really been a boon: I don’t have to mark out 200 m, 400 m on our trails where we train, nor do I have to count, timed intervals, nor recovery distance/time.

And seriously, it has shown when my HRV is out of balance alerting that I’m having an issue that may need medical attention.

I wear it 24/7: the alarms I’ve set are necessary and work seamlessly.

The alerts during a run keep me focused: eat, drink, walk, turn around, etc., are, again, crucial to my training success.

Would love better compatibility with my iPhone, but I may switch to an Android with the greater productivity in my fitness tracking and assistance because of my Garmin. —Apple user since 1982.
