I've tried all the brands for bread flour. In all honesty there is no real difference.Walmarts brand is excellent.  Just remember if your making a tried and true family bread recipe or indeed an American recipe. Gluten matters. For family recipe using bread flour you'll ether want to hold back some flour. Or simply adjust your hydration. Remember all that was used before was AP flour. American recipes our regular AP flour due to its  gluten % is a great fit. Or you can use our bread flour no problem. Just make the same adjustments. You'll know by the look and feel of your dough what it needs. If you love and make sourdough breads the bread flour is an excellent choice. Well in my opinion.

Walmarts flour is just as good as name brand.

I thought I would give this a try...I usually buy the other brand but I heard this was a very good flour to use for breads..

Bread flour

It is definitely great for the price it definitely actually tastes really good if you're doing it in a bread maker but it also if you're like me where everything is done from scratch it actually even makes your bread taste and fluffier and everything else no difference then buying something more expensive I recommend.

I'm using GV bread flour all the time now and find no difference between it and the name brands -- except, of course, for the low price.

Good stuff

Made a loaf of bread in bread maker with this flour and it tastes just like the more expensive flours. Will buy again!

Great Value and not just in name

I have to say Great Value bread flour works equally as well as the other guys. Great Value is in the Hood watch out Robin lol.

Great Value in the Hood

Excellent for making bread and sourdough, it comes in powder form in 2.5 kg but sometimes it comes in a little more, considering that small variation of 10 to 20 gr.

Used it for flatbread and bread bowls. It was awesome perfect texture.

The best value for bread flour. Other brands are much more expensive. I have tried other name brands without any significant difference in quality. Don't even try to make bread with all-purpose flour. Bread requires the  higher protein content of bread flour for gluten development. However, this flour is probably bleached. Usually flour which is unbleached specifies this on the label. Bleached flour is not recommended for sourdough bread. Unbleached flour does not contain the chemicals of bleached flour. It also has a higher protein content. If you are baking sourdough bread, use unbleached bread flour.
