This particular Gumout product contains polytheramine which is the same as Techron. It dissolves carbon like hot water melts ice. You have to have a drip system to inject it into the intake manifold at a steady drip. Cleans the valves and the catalytic converter. At my shop where many cars come in with P0420 codes it solves the problem. One treatment can last as long as 6 months. No need to replace the cat if it is not broken or clogged. Vehicles with direct injection is almost every vehicle today the intake valves coke up. The engine develops a bop at idle it cleans that too.  Great stuff.

Cleans Catalytic converters

has a decent amount of carbon cleaner PEA i think its called. use in gas tank or with oil. i put in a whole can @1/4 tank and the whole bottle in crank case about 200 miles and drive before changing oil last time because i ran out of transmission fluid. it did dissolve a good amount of varnish in motor that stuck to drain pan. you will need to use a funnel to put into your gas tank. use in anything that runs on gas, like lawnmower before oil change. it may smoke a bit, but thats from carbon buildup

Best value for fuel system/engine cleaning. I've used it every other oil change for a couple of years. I put one ounce per quart of oil in the crankcase and the rest in the gas tank until I need to refill, then change the oil. My engine has a known oil consumption issue but has been cut from losing a quart of oil every 1000 miles to every 2000. I do delivery/lots of idling and low-speed driving and always notice quicker starts and more steady RPM at stoplights after treatment. A separate fuel cleaner and engine flush would cost well over twice as much and be no more effective. I highly recommend this stuff over Sea Foam. As a bonus, a drop or two works great as a cleaner/lubricant/penetrating oil for chains, hinges, etc.

good product! anything, do %26 use anything to keep piston rings free! once they are gunked up your engine is on deaths door.

KEEP THOSE RINGS FREE, WHATEVER IT TAKES

I use this in all my vehicles and never any negative issues.   Would recommend this product each month to keep injectors clean and aids in better mileage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little more expensive and I'm not *********% certain its worth the extra so I use it less frequently.

I really like this Gumout and I use it for all of my cars %26 trucks. Mercedes's Ford's GMC. If one of your lights comes on in your dashboard. Maybe it is just bad gas or if my wife drives around in the city's and I just put in a can and 99 out of a hundred it will take the light off. I had some gas stations or automotive repair shops went to charge for plugs points or even something ridiculous and I would rather get a tank of premium and a bottle of Gumout. Try it a second time if it doesn't work out the first. I saved thousands of dollars just for this simple FIX! 
But they raised the price a couple of dollars and I just think it's to much because inflation hasn't gone up for $8 a bottle. I used to pay about $5.50. I been using this for over 25-35 years. I can remember it was about $3. It was always more than the other brands but it does work.

You Get What You Pay For!!!!!

this product does work with no negative effects on the car, i used it to stop the leak in my power steering and added some to engine right after the oil change.
the power steering leak stopped and no leaks for months now, no leaks from the engine anymore ( the engine block is completely clean) and add some to the transmission recently and im not kidding, the shifting is much smoother and you can see fuel improvement and more power the car the cylinder and the piston head is completely clean now like it used to be when it came out of the factory.
you will notice some carbon ok around the silencer and thats is the carbon getting cleaned and pushed out of the engine.
in the in the beginning I used it three times in a row then after that once every two feel and the engine now it's super clean.
This product help to stop the leak on the engine power steering and the transmission and improve the fuel economy and you can notice increase in engine's power.
this is a good product

Gumout Multi-System Tune-Up 16 oz..  i used this stuff in concentrated form to clean a bad gas situation causing misfires. i added one can to 4 gallons and drove for about 10 miles. i then filled to half a tank(8 gallons), and after 2 cycles of this method, it cleared the misfires and rough idle. try this at your own risk.

the directions on the can are different than the way i used the product.

Didn't seem to do anything. Didn't increase gas mileage. didn't reduce engine carbon or sludge (oil looks the same). 

Was unsure about oil change interval after adding to oil. Called company and left Voice mail to find out, no reply from them at all. Did 3 oil changes with product including adding to fuel on a 2006 Chrysler 3.8 V6. used a total of 3 cans.

not working and found no improvement after 3 cans.

most of these still additives are like snake oil. they don't do half of what they say they do and they are mainly a waste of money. there's enough additives in the gas and I'm not talking about ethanol.
