Just what we were looking for to remove dead grass in the new house. My review is based on the 2 weeks of ownership. So far is working perfectly and does the job as described. The instructions could be better but we were able to put it together in 20 minutes.

This is the best invention for thatching. We tried the hand rake and it just wasn't enough. Thatch had taken over our yard. We were planning on Cutting out the lawn and starting over. It was 95% thatch. We decided to get this dethatcher to be prepared for the next lawn and decided to figure out how to use it on the old lawn so we didn't ruin the new lawn. We started on the highest setting and one pass we had to empty the bag and more was falling out of the blades. It was amazing! That would have taken us at least an hour and the machine did it in a matter of seconds. The dethatcher is light and easy to use. It is self powered so it practically moves itself. The bag is really small and needs to be unloaded frequently. We tried leaving the bag off and it shot the thatch out like a snow blower blows snow. It was impressive. My husband followed me with the lawn mower to pick it up but we still had to do a lot of raking after. It is annoying but the leaving the bag on helps because it is a lot less effort than trying to rake up all the thatch. We filled up 2 yard waste cans that first day and we did a 40ft x 12 ft lawn in 1 hour. We waited a week and did it again on the second setting. and took out another yard waste can full. To our shock, the grass started popping up. We actually have grass now that the thatch is mostly gone. We don't have to tear it out and start over. We are going to do  another pass with the 3rd of 4 settings and I think we will have removed all of it. This little machine is definitely worth the money! The instructions to put it together are terrible and the pictures to aide setup are even worse but once you get it going it is the best thing we ever bought for the yard!

Amazing Tool!

Works Great! Its wider than the others, Less cost than than the others. Adjustable depth settings work great, you can take off a little or tear it up... your choice. Glad I waited for this one!

Works great, wide, adjustable and fairly quiet

This dethatcher does a great job! You look at your lawn and you think you've done a great job raking it but this dethatcher will give you another 3 times more dried grass than you just raked. It creates lines in the soil that will help aerate your lawn. You have to be in shape to keep up to the dethatcher as it grabs in the soil it speeds up pretty fast. It would be a 5 star rating if that was what the product would only do but its suppose to scoop up the dried grass as it goes but it really has a hard time trying to put the dried grass in the collector. It's not too much of a problem because there is soooo much dried grass that is kicked up that the collector bag wouldn't be able to hold it all. It's well designed and easy to use. For some it might be a little tricky to assemble but worth the effort.

Oh Come on ...I just finished raking :)

Very difficult to operate  blade clogs up on every row of use.  Bag is too small. Doesn't cut easily. Spent most of my time getting clogged up grass out of times. Not worth the time or the money
