We turn it up our way—anywhere. The all-new JBL Boombox 4 is bigger, bolder, and better than ever, with powerful JBL Pro Sound that stays loud and clear, with deep thumping bass. AI Sound Boost analyzes our music in real time and adjusts the sound to give us more power with less distortion, even when we turn it all the way up. It packs two bigger woofers, two tweeters and three passive radiators, so every track hits harder and sounds cleaner. When we want to fine-tune the vibe, we just switch between deep or vibrant punchy Bass Boost settings to match our mood. We gave the classic Boombox design a fresh upgrade—it’s larger but lighter, so we can take it wherever the party goes: the beach, the block, or the backyard. Took the JBL Boombox 4 out of the box and quickly connected it to my phone Bluetooth. Hit play to my favorite music playlist and POW!!!! The bass was deep and clear!! The sound was crip. Downloaded the small JBL app and it connected easily and quickly, no issues!.
The JBL Boombox 4 thumps!! Took it outside and the sound was even better!
This is a great product!

Deep bass with clear notes!

jbl.com

My wife loves karaoke nights at home and we wanted something powerful enough to fill the house and garden without sounding tinny. When we turned it on for the first time it genuinely impressed me. The sound is huge with deep bass - the closer you get to the boombox, the more you actually feel the bass. Some songs honestly gave me goosebumps. The good thing is the vocals still come through clearly which makes karaoke tracks sound brilliant. I also like how much more control the app gives you with the EQ settings compared to older JBL speakers. The battery life has been excellent so far and the lighter design makes it easier to carry into the garden while the kids play - this is great because we like to entertain in different areas of the garden. I would say at very high volume it can almost be too powerful for smaller rooms, but that really just shows how much output this thing has. For those who genuinely love their music and appreciate good sound, this feels worth the money.

Impressive sound

This is a real monster of a speaker! I looked at the dimensions before purchase and whilst I got the tape measure out, I am not sure I grasped the size of the ‘total' shape. That is not a negative comment but a realisation of the physical presence of the product.

Very simple to set-up and also register the product on the system.

The physical presence of the product is more than matched by the quality of the sound depth and clarity. I have used the speaker as gentle background music to just keep the silence away and I have used it in anger to get the party started. In both cases it did the job well. I did really ramp-it-up and whilst the volume level went up to a very respectable ‘noise' level, the audio quality and clarity did not distort. I have played with the bass options and can appreciate that for certain types of music this would be a real enhancing option. Maybe I will let the kids have control at the next family BBQ.

The battery life seems in keeping with the product description but I have not yet taken to the limit.

I will test the linked/group option over the summer, as a number friends and family have compatible products form the family.

In summary, it lives up to its name, in terms of size and quality.

It Lives Up To It's Name!

I purchased this as I already have a JBL Flip 7 and wanted a bigger speaker to use in the garden.
The sound quality it produces is very good. Deep bass as well as clear vocals.
Battery life from 1 single charge is impressive.
It link seamlessly with the Flip 7, allowing music to be in 2 places at once playing from the same Bluetooth device.

Amazing Sound

I recently purchased the JBL Boombox 4. I used the JBL Boombox 4 during a backyard BBQ and the sound quality was impressive. The bass was strong even outdoors, and the speaker got very loud without distortion. The Bluetooth connection was quick and the battery lasted for hours. I also liked that it is waterproof, which makes it great for outdoor use. My family and I really enjoyed using it and I would definitely recommend it.

Great for family gatherings

Wow, if you are looking for a speaker that can cover you for any size party then this is for you. Just don't stand near it when you put it on full volume. Not heavy enough that I couldn't lift it over my head so it's very portable too. Extremely easy to set up and get started whilst outlasting any party. I took it away for a whole week without needing to charge it and I was using it every day.

I appreciate it's not the cheapest model out there but at least with this you wouldn't need to be buying anything else for a very long time so you've got to factor in that it is a long term investment.

punchy sound, easy to set up and transport

Bought for the summer months and for taking out and about. Easy to carry with the handle. Delivers exceptional bass with the option of punchy or deep versions. Good EQ control through the app and easy to connect to bluetooth. Fairly large but manageable for travel short distances and has a good weight to it.

Great package and wonderful sound

Before I purchased the Boombox 4 I watched far too many reviews and comparisons on YouTube. The Boombox 4 always came out on top. We already have the Flip 7 and are super happy with that one so we committed to the Boombox 4 and we're so happy we did. It sounds so much better than the Bluetooth speaker it replaced with two 10” woofers. The sound quality through the whole audio spectrum is fantastic. The bass came be felt while producing no distortion. It felt a little pricey but the build quality and audio performance helped heal the sticker shock.

Best portable Bluetooth

The JBL Boombox 4 is the latest high-end option in JBL's popular consumer Bluetooth speakers, as a result it has some pretty big shoes to fill. With Deep bass activated, the JBL logos on the two massive passive radiators on each end of the speaker illuminate in a bright pulsing orange which then turns white when Punchy is enabled. It's a lovely effect, I do however wish there was a way to turn it on independently of these bass modes, or even just the option to customize the colors of either. You can at least disable it entirely if you wish. Aside from your usual power, Bluetooth, play, pause, and volume controls, the rest of the major features are accessible via the excellent JBL app. This includes a range of equalizer settings plus a screen to create your own using a seven-band EQ.

One of the best portable speakers

The JBL Boombox 4 is by far the most impressive portable speaker I have encountered. It has a really long battery life, it's got really powerful and deep bass and the volume is impressive, not just for how loud it gets, but also because of how the sound quality is retained at higher volumes.

The downsides are - yeah it's portable and has a handle, but you wouldn't want to take it up a mountain. This is very much a more compact party speaker more than a truly portable bluetooth speaker. It's also very expensive, but if seriously loud and bassy sound is your thing - I think this is as good as it gets from the world of portable speakers.

Amazing speaker!

I just purchased a BB4 a few days ago. I have a BB3 and a 320. I had planned to sell my BB3 and have an upgraded portable speaker that I can pair with my 320. I have already returned my BB4 after comparing with my BB3 for distortion. I listen to some bass heavy songs and got the same result even after changing equalizer settings multiple times including the custom one. The BB4 gets louder but definitely sacrifices quality sound. It's not my recommendation to buy the BB4 if you already have a BB3 and value sound quality no matter what equalizer settings or volume it's on or genre of music you're playing.

Problems with distortion after comparing with BB3

JBL Boombox 4 portable Bluetooth speaker with JBL Pro Sound: two larger woofers, two tweeters, three passive radiators and AI Sound Boost; IP68 waterproof/dustproof, up to 34-hour playtime, Auracast multi-speaker support, ideal for outdoor parties and gatherings.
