Crampons are easy to put on and remove as required during a hike. Grip works well on icy paths while hiking ice trails. A small pouch to store the crampons would be a nice to have. Delivery was prompt.

This is ice season where we live. Walking with the FlexSteps is pure magic and safety.

Magic on ice

These traction devices fit me perfect even over my Steger Mukluks. No slippage even walking up slippery trails.

Perfect fit

These crampons are great for New England winters. My wife and I hike regularly and as the weather gets warmer, the packed snow on the trails partially thaws and then refreezes overnight, making for very slippery conditions at times.  It's easy to bring these crampons with us and put them on at the trailhead depending on the day's conditions. The Freesteps crampons provide sure footing on the iciest of trails.

We have tried the rubber ones with embedded studs, and we find the chains-with-spikes style to provide better footing under a wider set of conditions.

We each have a pair that we have used for years and recently bought a larger size for my wife's new boots. We definitely recommend these.

Great on New England Trails

I am wrapping up an extra long Ohio winter wearing these, averaging about 3 miles per day on hilly ungroomed trails.  They stay firmly in place on your boots and provide traction that makes ice and snow feel like walking on dry pavement.  They are easy to put on after the first couple of times.

Great for hikes on snow and ice.

I have used various brands of crampons for hiking on trails that are covered with ice or hard paced snow, but none compare to the FreeSteps6. They are extremely easy to use and do not slip off like some other brands. The rugged teeth provide excellent stability on soild ice,  hard packed snow, and various trail conditions in between. They work fantastic!

Xlent crampons!

I have had these for several years now. I am a hike leader with The Bruce Trail and have recommended them to several hikers. Most have purchased them and love them as much as I do. Unlike many other styles that allow wet snow to clump up between the boot and ice, you won't get that with these. Well worth the investment.

No clumping of wet snow!

These provide super traction when I fish during the winter.  Helps me get to the river and I keep them on while wading. This is my 3rd pair because I've lost 2 pair in deep snow. I wear a size 10 wading boot and bought size large.

My third Pair

I bought the Freesteps Crampons 7years ago. I have used them extensively and they are fantastic, icy hikes on trails and town trails. Highly recommended but one of them wires broke and I had to hack together a fix. I am sending them away to get fixed

Great crampons

I bought those on January 8th 2025 in a sport shop. I used once a week in January and February 2025. I used them again once a week in December 2025, January and February 2026. As of today the straps are completely torn apart at the end where they attach to the harness. Hard to believe I am the first one to whom it happens. Then, how come harness knowingly sold with those. Otherwise, very good crampons.

Straps torn apart twenty hikes. Unusable

Very good and expensive crampons, easy to put and take off, good grip on the shoes and boots (you're not gonna loose these in the snow as many other similar products).
I buy four pairs for me and members of my family because they seems to be great and perform well for the first few weeks...
Theses spikes are unreliable and completely ruined after ten weeks of normal walking (not running) for 60 minutes, 5 days a week, on icy and/or snowy sidewalks and streets in the winter of my town. Don't expect any "long lasting performance". 
So sorry to have to conclude: don't buy these crampons for that use, the metal of these crampon (ice cleats) can absolutely not do this kind of job.
P.S. I have no interest to give a bad critic to this company or product. For me: correction on these crampons should be done.
