These traction devices fit me perfect even over my Steger Mukluks. No slippage even walking up slippery trails.

Perfect fit

I have used various brands of crampons for hiking on trails that are covered with ice or hard paced snow, but none compare to the FreeSteps6. They are extremely easy to use and do not slip off like some other brands. The rugged teeth provide excellent stability on soild ice,  hard packed snow, and various trail conditions in between. They work fantastic!

Xlent crampons!

Purchased for mother in law, who would venture out to her mailbox, on ice covered driveway. They are fitted to her shoes and she likes them very much. My concern , for her, was heightened because she is 86 years young!! Still believes she is a spring chicken!!

Mom-in-Law is still upright!

These crampons are great for New England winters. My wife and I hike regularly and as the weather gets warmer, the packed snow on the trails partially thaws and then refreezes overnight, making for very slippery conditions at times.  It's easy to bring these crampons with us and put them on at the trailhead depending on the day's conditions. The Freesteps crampons provide sure footing on the iciest of trails.

We have tried the rubber ones with embedded studs, and we find the chains-with-spikes style to provide better footing under a wider set of conditions.

We each have a pair that we have used for years and recently bought a larger size for my wife's new boots. We definitely recommend these.

Great on New England Trails

I have had these for several years now. I am a hike leader with The Bruce Trail and have recommended them to several hikers. Most have purchased them and love them as much as I do. Unlike many other styles that allow wet snow to clump up between the boot and ice, you won't get that with these. Well worth the investment.

No clumping of wet snow!

I've been using the Hillsound FreeSteps6® Crampons through real winter conditions—icy sidewalks, packed snow trails, and a few steep, slick sections—and they've been a total confidence booster. The traction is aggressive in the best way: the spikes bite cleanly into ice and hard snow, so you don't get that nervous “micro-slip” feeling that cheaper cleats often give. I've worn them for walking, winter hiking, and even some light trail running, and they've stayed secure the whole time without shifting on my boots.

What I really like is how simple they are to put on and take off. The rubber harness stretches snugly over footwear and feels durable, not flimsy. Once they're seated properly, they stay put—even in deep snow or uneven terrain. For the price, the build quality feels excellent and the performance punches above its weight compared to other traction devices I've tried.

A couple small things to note: sizing matters. If you're between sizes or using bulkier winter boots, it's worth double-checking the size chart or sizing up. Also, in sticky or fresh snow, I've noticed some snow can pack under the heel/toe areas where the chains loop together. It's not a dealbreaker, but you may need to knock the buildup out occasionally on longer outings.

Overall, these are a fantastic winter traction option—lightweight, tough, and seriously effective. If you spend any time outdoors in winter, they're absolutely worth it for the stability and peace of mind. Highly recommended.

MUST BUY

i have purchased two sets of FreeSteps6 Crampons, one for me and one for my sister.   We both walk our dogs and rely on these crampons in winter icy conditions.  I confidently walk on hikes through the local provincial park and on slippery sidewalks.  I highly recommend this product.

These provide super traction when I fish during the winter.  Helps me get to the river and I keep them on while wading. This is my 3rd pair because I've lost 2 pair in deep snow. I wear a size 10 wading boot and bought size large.

My third Pair

I bought the Freesteps Crampons 7years ago. I have used them extensively and they are fantastic, icy hikes on trails and town trails. Highly recommended but one of them wires broke and I had to hack together a fix. I am sending them away to get fixed

Great crampons

Very good and expensive crampons, easy to put and take off, good grip on the shoes and boots (you're not gonna loose these in the snow as many other similar products).
I buy four pairs for me and members of my family because they seems to be great and perform well for the first few weeks...
Theses spikes are unreliable and completely ruined after ten weeks of normal walking (not running) for 60 minutes, 5 days a week, on icy and/or snowy sidewalks and streets in the winter of my town. Don't expect any "long lasting performance". 
So sorry to have to conclude: don't buy these crampons for that use, the metal of these crampon (ice cleats) can absolutely not do this kind of job.
P.S. I have no interest to give a bad critic to this company or product. For me: correction on these crampons should be done.
