I have been eating this cereal almost every single night for about a decade. Over the past couple months, I noticed that the packaging changed, but did not know that the recipe itself also changed. All the recent boxes I've bought have tasted stale and the amount of chocolate has been inconsistent. I agree with the other reviews saying that it tastes like eating cardboard. This cereal used to taste amazing and was something that I always looked forward to eating. PLEASE bring back the old recipe!

I agree with the rest of the reviewers that the new version of this tastes both weird and stale.  It was my go to cereal for years and years, and I even hooked my wife on it.  She hates the new taste as well.  I found boxes of the original brought back and somehow still on the shelves and bought it out.  We switched to the cocoa clusters but miss the extra protein in the morning, so am searching for a new cereal unless you bring back the old recipe.

New flavor is awful

Have been buying for maybe 2 years. The new product is awful. Tastes bland, stale, there's a stickiness to it that wasn't there before, some clusters so hard I can't even bite through them without risking damage to teeth. It's not edible, it tastes awful. Bring back the old ingredients/formula. I will not be buying again

New cereal is awful

Before the recipe change in 2025, this cereal used to be absolute favorite. It had fiber, protein and tasted delicious. Now it tastes stale, lacks flavor, and seems hard rather than crunchy. PLEASE bring back the old recipe.

Horrible New Recipe

All of the recent positive reviews are part of a FREE incentive Kellogg has done to do damage control on their “New Look” formula change. Most of those people probably never tasted the previous Kashi Chocolate. I used to eat Kashi Chocolate every morning for breakfast and occasionally for dinner when I had a late shift and just needed a little something. I am sooooo bummed they changed the formula. The “New Look” is terrible. It tastes like cardboard. This is my second review I am leaving. My first review was removed along with many others. Clearly Kellogg is manipulating the reviews. What a shame. Very disappointing.

There were about 30 bad reviews for the cereal and Kashi removed nearly 100% of them. I have been following the reviews as they stack up with negative comments, hoping the cereal would go back to its original formula. Zero integrity. The cereal is officially worthless. It tastes horrible. The size of the box is smaller. The price is increased. My family would normally buy 2-3 boxes per week. We all agree, it is now YUCK! Keep it on your shelves. Definitely not buying.

New “Look” is a BAD TASTE!

Agree with many many others.  No idea what they were thinking but clearly they have changed the recipe and markedly reduced the chocolate flavor.  Tastes like crunch cardboard.  If anyone reads these reviews please please go back to your previous formulation, or at least do something to actually create a chocolate taste.

NEW CHOCOLATE HAS NO TASTE!!!

I'm going from eating several boxes per week to zero after this recipe change. This was the one Kelloggs product I was willing to buy, but no longer if the old recipe isn't brought back. This new one tastes so insanely bad and is bewilderingly more expensive and a victim of obvious, disgusting shrinkflation. It's hard not to feel like a slap in the face as a consumer. Kashi was so important to me as a meal substitute as a traveling musician with little time to cook or dine out but I actually consider this inedible. Would rank in the negatives if I could. Who approved this???

New Recipe is Awful

I've been a loyal Kashi Go Lean Crunch (Chocolate) customer for years, easily 50+ boxes a year. Until recently, it was one of the best-tasting cereals on the market. The recent recipe change has completely altered that. The flavor is very bland, the texture is stale and cardboard-like, and it no longer delivers what kept me (and many others) coming back.

I get that recipe changes don't happen in a vacuum, cost pressures, ingredient sourcing, supply chain efficiency, nutrition targets, maybe even global product alignment. Those are real business  considerations.

But here's the tradeoff I see as a customer: a product that's now (likely) cheaper to make, but one that loyal buyers no longer recognize or enjoy. And when those buyers leave, they usually don't come back. That's not just lost sales, it's a long-term brand trust and brand equity risk from your most loyal customers, and that's a lot harder and more costly in the long term to fix.

A quick look at your own product page shows I'm not alone. Dozens of recent reviews from long-time customers say the same thing. Sadly, after years of loyalty, I've moved on to a completely different brand, and based on the other loyal customer reviews here, I am not alone.

Dear Kelloggs Leadership Team,

My husband and I used to go through at least a couple of boxes of the old formula each week. This new formula is noticeably blander and full of squeaky-tacky, dense, sharp clusters, with an unpleasant aftertaste. Don't let the new "25% more!" on the packaging distract you from the ~20% increase in per-ounce price. We will be returning this for a refund and avoiding Kashi products from now on.

Now worse and more expensive than ever before!

Crunchy, good fibre and protein. Turns milk chocolatey. Keeps me full. I have it with almond milk and scoop of peanut butter every morning.
