Affordable high quality kettle. I used it a couple of times. Fast heating and keeps the water hot for a while after using. It is an elegant add to your kitchen.

Head to Walmart and grab your must have kettle 💕

I use this for instant coffee (Bustello) as well as if making soups (ramen) as well as if I need boiling water for anything. Super fast and does the trick. I have always used one of these daily in my kitchen and this one was a legit replacement for my old one that was 6 years old and only died since I broke it. (Don't ask)

This kettle heats water quickly.  I use it to heat water at my kitchen sink for hand-washing items that are NOT dishwasher safe.  My sink is located far away from my garage water heater so I save water using this  rather than running the faucet until the water runs hot!

I was "iffy" when I bought this. I read the reviews, and 3% said that the plastic casing flaked into the water. Others said there was a plastic taste. And, yes, the fact the casing is plastic did bother me. But I've generally been happy with Mainstays  appliances, and so I took a chance.

Used about two dozen times now. No plastic taste. No white flakes. (See below for my take on this.)

And the performance is superlative. It has/does exactly what I want:
(1) easy-see side fill gauge, 
(2) easy kitchen sink fill,
(3) idiot-proof lighted on/off switch
(4) spout doesn't "sputter" boiling water, smooth laminar flow; detachable filter.
(5) handle is deep enough to hold low to avoid steam spume when pouring
(6) cord coils underneath the base (NOTE: could be better)
(7) push-button popup lid
(8) NOT black or gunmetal; looks nice on the counter.

Summary: They designed it cheap, simple, and precisely functional.

CON: Yeah, it's cheap. I don't see it lasting more than a year or two. But the price essentially makes it a disposable. I plan to do with this the same thing I do with my Mainstays coffee maker: I buy a second one and keep it available for when the one in use breaks.

Regarding the plastic taste and the white flakes:

My thought is that the plastic taste may just be a genetic thing (some can taste it, some can't; like how cilantro tastes like soap to me, but not to my wife; taste buds differ). OR they might be imagining it.

As to the white flakes, they might have hard water and be seeing precipitate that collects on the spout filter.

Tip to Mainstays: sell this in a nice range of PASTEL colors: pink, yellow, pale green, light blue. That would avoid the supposed flake issue, and my wife would buy a pastel pink one in a New York second.

The kettle is 1.7L max kettle very light weight because it's plastic but has a series of white patches after water is boiled for a couple of times post 2-3 weeks of usage

Small compact kettle

This product works as it is intended but you can taste the plastic in your heated up water. The taste of the materials that it is made of is what you are drinking. I will be returning this product and upgrading back to a steel product. I had no way of knowing that it wasnt metal on the inside based on the photos. There is a metal plate with plastic sides which is not ideal to boil water in.

this item has a problem with the on/off switch. it doesn't work as it should and requires getting the button is the exact right position to work. 
i should be able to just push it down and the ekettle should come on.
