Has a robust build to hold a decent amount of weight.

You get what you pay for. For the price, it's a great bookshelf. I needed a bigger one than what we had for all my kids books and didn't want to spend a fortune so this is what I got. It works exactly as intended and was easy to put together. The instructions for assembly were easy to follow.

Great for what I needed for kids books

walmart.com

I really love this shelf, it surprised me of how strong and sturdy it is because I got it on sale so I wasn't expecting such a strong quality of wood. The instructions were nice and clear able to understand. It probably took me about 40mins to assemble but I'm a girl and I did it by myself.

Love it

Assembly was simple and quick. I'm a bit slow, but I still finished within 30–40 minutes. The bookshelf feels sturdy, and the color looks great. For the price, the quality is good.

One thing to note is that the back cover panel is made of thin cardboard. This actually worked out well for me because I wanted to create a hole for outlets behind the bookshelf, and it didn't come with one pre-cut. For reference, the color I purchased was Rustic Oak.

Good quality for the price

As I continue purchasing books over the years, I seem to always need another bookcase. From my first purchase until now, these cases have held up well. The size makes it easy to fit them in anywhere, and they look so nice! My granddaughter assembles them for me, %26 she says it's easy.
The price remains affordable, %26 having it delivered to your home is another benefit of purchasing from Walmart. If you need a bookcase, I highly recommend this product!

My 7th bookcase!!!

I needed something cheap and simple to organize my room, and this totally nailed it for the price. It only took about 20 minutes to put together. The adjustable shelves are super handy for fitting taller items, and the black oak finish looks way sleeker than I expected. It's obviously a budget piece, but once it's loaded up with books, it feels surprisingly sturdy. Awesome value!

Perfect little budget shelf!

I am a 74 year old woman. This was easy to put together, and exactly what I needed. Very sturdy. These are books I pulled from my living room bookcase that I plan on reading in bed also doubles as a nightstand. Very satisfied with style, color, price, size and ease of build.b

The included small, odd, black piece of plastic is a device to help people hammer in the nails. I didn't realize what it was until after I completed the assembly. The nail device would probably help. Although I tried hard to nail very carefully, three of the nails caused damage to the bookshelf frame, causing small chunks of it to break off. The frame material is thin and easily damaged if the nails are not hammered in perfectly straight and in the exact right location and angle.

Use the plastic nailing device

Good cheap bookshelf! The back is very very weak, basically cardboard which I don't like. It also came partially ripped. Overall, I like it and recommend for the price.

Decent bookshelf for good price

Easy to put together. Was perfect except the panel that attaches to the back was little more than a poster board and it split along the fold and soon ripped out of the nails holding it in place. I had to reinforce the back by drilling holes and attaching a more solid panel to solve this issue.

It's okay, better than the book shelf I already had when it comes to holding more I have room to add more unlike my other one but if you have tall books for anything they will not fit no matter how you move the shelves without creating issue with other shelves

Safety concern: Horrible stability - I'm not sure if the box I received is faulty, but the entire bookshelf is held together by 8 tiny nobs of chip wood (that do not fit securely into their designated inserts) and 6 screws. The holes are not aligned properly, so using the allen key doesn't work effectively. It gets completely worn out after a few turns. The shelves are wobbly and not held by anything secure, the tiny metal slabs that the centre shelf is meant to rest on, spins haphazardly in place. It is not designed to hold the weight it says it does.

I also bought the 5-tier shelf on the same day, and it is loads better - far sturdier and more stable than this one.

Will fall apart: beware your books, kids, & pets
