We really love this so far. We've only had it up 1 day so far and both of our children love the top bunk. The top is intended for our 5 year old and the bottom for our 3 year old. Love the fact that come time when they both get their own room they both already have big enough beds for themselves. Exactly why we purchased this bunk bed option. Set up was easy as me and my husband worked together to get it done. There are some small pieces as far as railings go that can be a bit tedious but well worth it. When assembling the head board and food boards for the top of you choose to assemble that way dont tighten the nuts until you get the guard rails on. The part that took the longest for assembly was putting all the racks in the bed frame(laying part) and adding the snapping pieces to secure them. But again its well worth it. We do plan on buying a pool noodle today for the steps to protect their feet from hurting. They were sleeping with us for a while and today our daughter said she gonna sleep good tonight in her new bed which for us is like Ahhhhhhhh . Time wise it will take a while especially if you have little ones awake who want to see and help and will probably be all over the place. Also loved that it came with extras pieces and nuts, we didnt have to use them though but it was nice to have just in case. The bed frame came 3 days early and the mattress came 2 days early which perfect timing for us because it gave us the time needed to change and repaint.

Most easiest bed to put together only took me literally 2hrs would've been shorter than that but it was just me so i had to figure out how to balance stuff myself but anybody saying it's hard to put together is either slow or lazy because i hate putting stuff together but the instructions was easy to go by and it was simple to assemble

Great product easy to put together

I purchased this bed for my 13y and 6y daughters. It took a little research to find a bunk bed that I felt was safe for my girls and fit my very tight budget. This bed can hold over 200 lbs per bunk - perfect for my 13 y/o to have a friend or two sit on the bunk with her to chat. The bed was delivered in a very timely fashion. It was easy to put together; I was able to do most of the work myself with help here and there from my kids. They are happy with their new bunk bed and I am happy with my purchase.

Good Quality, great price

This bed is sturdy and was easy to set up. I have my son sleeping at the top and my daughter at the bottom. Its unisex and goes well with their other decor. The set up was easy, my fiancé and I put it together in less than an hour, I and my fiancé laid at the top and it held us easily, so your kids will be safe.

Sturdy and easy set up

I like the fact that it was easy to put together and you had a lot of extra pieces if you need them. I dislike when some of the rails were hard to snap in place. I had to put a little force with it to get it in place. The box is very long and heavy just make sure you have help.

Great Purchase

Loved it!!! It's sturdy and I love that fact that they can also be separated and doesn't have to be bunk beds forever so they can switch it up when the times comes. Does take time to put together but what doesn't it turned out great thank you

One thing I noticed was that a week after putting it together I had to retighten everything because it came loose, we'll see if this weeks the same. I have a skinny 11 and 10 year old and it wiggles more than I expected. Overall we like it, the blacks nice. The end rails hold pillows and stuffed animals in so that's a nice feature. I also am glad it can turn into two separate beds.

Metal bunkbed

I made sure I read all the reviews before purchased this bed, and the reviews were good. I was a bit disappointed that it was going to take 2 weeks to receive after placing my order on line, but hey, the shipping was free so why complain? 
The bed was delivered on the date they said it would and I could track my order on the Walmart website through my account. Cudos to the shipping department! 
The bed was delivered in a rather large box that was left on my front porch, it was heavy so I had my 16 year old son help me with it.
The process of putting it together took about an hour and a half with 2 people. No tools were required, everything came in the box.
I was s but skeptical because some of the reviews claimed that pieces were missing. Everything was there and it didn't take long to get it together and in place! 
The bed is sturdy and my 2 hellions LOVE it! I cannot say thank you enough to Walmart for a great product and an even better price! I'm sold and would tell family and friends looking for a quality bed to look into this one! 
Great bed, great service and great price. Can't stress that enough.

Skeptical mom of 2 roughneck boys ages 10 and 5

I ordered these beds for my boys age 5 & 6. I'm using them as single beds until they are older, then I plan to bunk them. I'm a petite single mom so I was a little concerned I would need help putting them together.  They were very easy to assemble. I did it by myself in just a couple hours. The box was smaller and easier to handle by myself than I thouht it would be. The beds are light and easy for one person to move. I'm a little concerned they will be too light weight  when I bunk them, but we will see. My only complaint was that they came a day later than expected so the box sat outside in the weather and the bottom got wet and started to breakdown. This didn't affect the actual beds as they were well packaged, just a little messy getting the box in the house.

Easy to assemble

Had 2 of the same pieces was very frusterating, the hubby used self tappers though and made it work guess this happens alot :( Its a decent bed wouldnt say the metalis very strong thou but for a 6 yr old n 3 yr old works great! thats my review honest opinion

Assembly was very difficult for a single mom of 3 kids. Certain metal pieces didn't match up evenly and there was a dent on one of the head board pieces. Will not be buying another Mainstays bunk bed. And that's with me following all the directions to a T!
