So, I am writing this review for my husband for whom the shoes were purchased. He didn't expand on why only a four rating,  but I know he puts them on and wears them whenever he does any yard work, most especially when he operates the hydraulic wood splitter.  

He was surprised with how solid the composite toe is made, and pleased. It is not uncommon to drop heavy chunks of wood resulting in bruised toes. These shoes stand up to that.

I think the downside is the heaviness of the shoe because of the composite toe. He thought I had ordered the steel toe. Being in his mid 70s and having a bad back, the weight of the shoe is probably the deciding factor in his rating. Although, if someone wants the added benefit of the building of leg muscles.... and if someone is used to wearing a heavier steel toe shoe, these may be a refreshing change.

All that aside, they seem to be well made and so far have withstood the beatings my husband has put them through.
