Sorry you can't speakerphone - or god forbid put it up to your ear and people can't hear you. It's made to do the job. The case itself is just as good as the past ones, it still ensures that water doesn't get to the phone. The case is as resistant as advertised and I love the built in screen protector. I haven't scared a phone screen or broke a phone in ages due to these cases. However I have found that the speak quality has gotten worse sense the last case I'm not sure if they changed something. I also noticed that the phone does not work on speaker phone well the case is on. This has been apart of past cases but I again noticed it is significantly worse on this phone case. I hope in the further they can figure out a way to better ensure the phone cases work on speaker phone, and that audio coming from the phon isn't so changed by the case.

My honest review.

Could be better. I've been a fre case lover for years since lifeproof. This is my first fre case since otterbox took over lifeproof and it feels like the recipe for the products has changed. Hard to describe but the plastic feels a little cheaper and more rough- not as easy or as comfortable to hold onto. This case also has built in hooks for the bottom where you can hook phone straps, but these corners/ cutouts are sharp as well and are uncomfortable/ annoying to the touch. I also feel that the gasket and case at the charging port is not as flush/ closed as it should be. I'm too nervous to test the full waterproof ability of the case.

Feels like the series is not as good as before

I have used a Lifeproof Fre case on every iPhone I have owned. This has been over many many years. In the beginning there were issues with hearing phones calls or the caller hearing me but, that slowing changed for the better. The lifeproof case fits my lifestyle perfectly and I can't get myself to go to another case. However, I recently upgraded from my iPhone 13pro and not having any issues out of the fre case to now having a iPhone 17pro with some issues of bearing calls again. I know these issues are somewhat normal due to the phone being completely encased. Still a fre user and not switching but I would like the case to get back to how it was with the 13pro

Life long lifeproof fre case user

Works great for protecting phone, sucks for anyone you're trying to talk to. Nobody can hear you and you can't hear them and trying to use the speaker sucks. Everything you need to hear from or speak into is so restrictive it's unusable. Might as well set a Benjamin on fire you will get more from doing that than buying this phone case. Wast of money do t buy it.

Burn your money instead!

Sound quality is terrible, both talking on the phone and listening to videos/music(muffled). People can't hear you on the other end, saying you cut in and out. But other than that, great protection for your phone.

Terrible sound quality

I purchased this case and have a had problems with it ever since. When on the phone, no one can seem to hear me. I received a replacement and it's no better. I made sure I put the phone in the case correctly but nothing was working. I got so fed up and decided to deconstruct the case. When I deconstructed the case to find out why, I found there is hard plastic covering the majority of the speaker. I understand it is a waterproof case. So either it's waterproof to a fault or the manufacturer has messed up the quality. Unless , you plan on switching out your case all the time, this case doesn't seem functional for everyday use.

The idea is great. Unfortunately, because the speakers and literally every part of the phone is covered with this case, it makes it hard for people to hear me when I talk on the phone or FaceTime. The microphone should not have been covered to allow for people on the other line of my phone call to hear me clearly.

Unfortunately, the negative reviews are true. This case does not work properly. During phone calls, people on the other end had trouble hearing me, and there was echoing and unclear audio. The call volume was also very poor. I stopped making calls because it was so frustrating not being heard.

I've always used fully enclosed cases because I prefer maximum protection and don't want to risk damaging my phone. Because of that, I was very disappointed with the quality and performance of this case and ended up returning it.

I switched to an OtterBox Defender case on my iPhone 17. While it is more exposed than I would prefer, I have had no issues with phone calls since removing this case.

I hope OtterBox addresses these problems, as I have never experienced issues with this type of case before. I would not recommend purchasing this product.
