We wanted to elevate our space, but have wooden floors so wanted to try and preserve them as best as we can. This rug pad was a great, useful addition to our space. The rubber gripping helps our rug not slip and slide (our dog appreciates that probably more than we do). It's thick enough to give an extra cushiony feel without raising the overall thickness of the rug area helping avoid that awkward, inconvenient or slightly dangerous level where tripping might be on your mind (may be top of mind personally since I'm sometimes gravity challenged haha). All that to say, I'm happy with the how my space turned out and the overall quality of this rug pad !!
