We received our DVD cabinet a couple of weeks ago. It was quite simple to assemble by one person without any help and nothing was missing but it did require the use of home tools including a hammer, power drill and screwdrivers. It took me two hours to put together. When completed, I transferred all our DVDs to it and it contained everything as advertised with lots of room left over for other things. My wife marveled at the clever design and kept admiring the good looks of the furniture in our playroom lounge next to the 60 inch television on its matching cabinet. The locking feature is a nice touch just to prevent accidental opening of the smoothly hinged doors by our curious collies.
The only flaw was mine when I hit one of the nails holding the backboard on an angle and it chipped a little piece from the rear side when it protruded. I fixed it with wood cement and tint so it barely shows. Otherwise it looks even better than advertised as it is a great colour.

Good looking and deceptively large capacity.

Love this movie case! A lot to put togeather but the end result is awesome. I would buy this again and just might have to, i have so many more movies that i need to put away. Its also great if you have kids under 4, it locks so they cant get into it and clime or risk it falling on them.

lots of storage!

It is very heavy. The design is compact but it holds alot of media. It's a very attractive piece and happy with the purchase except waited longer to assemble because of missing hardware.

Love it

Purchased this over Christmas after an exhaustive search to find a store with a display to actually see the unit in real life. Unfortunately you can't do that prior to ordering. So, we bit the bullet and ordered the unit. Came in half the time as was forecast and the unit came together quite well. Takes about 2 hrs to assemble but we'll worth it.

Prepac media storage cabinet

Recent ly purchased this product and so far it's been great. Holds lots of DVDs and the lock is a great feature with small kids. It does what it's meant to do and the price is good.

Wish it came with a better anchor system though. 2 pieces of thin plastic and a plastic tie does not seem good enough for the weight of the cabinet and a child pulling in it.

Also do not wear nice clothes when you are building the product. There's no way any of the pieces were wiped down before leaving the factory. There was so much saw dust in the box and on the pieces you would've thought I cut the pieces myself right there on the spot.

Good product

I bought this a couple weeks ago. Main points to mention:

- quick shipping
- easy enough to put together (I did most of it with little help from my husband)
- holds a lot of movies
- looks great and so much more organized for a movie or CD collector

However...

- the price for the quality of material being used is a little steep. I don't think this piece should be priced over $200 CAD before tax.

I would reccomend this product to a friend, and would like to buy another myself as I have many more movies.. However, for $305 after tax I will wait in hopes of a sale!

Happy with my purchase

Exactly what I wanted - held all my DVD's. Not quite enough finishing nails supplied for attatching the back but we had some and if you are looking for a secure lock this one isn't that great, but otherwise we are happy with it!

Holds a LOT!

Overall, the furniture is fine. But, the finish (dyeing) is not of good quality, a minimum pressure on a finger nail is enough to scratch it and see the natural color of the wood, one can hide the scratches with the colored pencil provided with the furniture). The thickness of the adjustable tablets is not the same as those of the fixed tablets (about 40% thick months), I would have liked to have the same thickness for all tablets. Assembly is relatively simple, but the instructions could be more simplified, for example, installing the pads on the board at the bottom of the cabinet before assembly, instead of trying to nail them when the cabinet is on the back (this is very difficult without drilling on an MDF board). A more negative point, on one of the two furniture I bought, the board on the side of the door (where the hinges are fixed) is not cut off from square, so there is a space of 1/8 inches between the top of the door and the board on the top of the furniture, while the other three doors the space is normal (1/32 inches).

Great storage, easy install, but the latch on the left door & the lock itself are TERRIBLE!

Why design it so the videos have to be removed to access it, or you have to keep the space clear of dvds altogether?
We ended up buying exterior latches. Not crazy about the look, but at least it works better. If I wasn't travelling so much right now I'd have just returned it. 

Redesign your latch & lock, and you'd get 5 starts from me.

Great storage design, but latches are terrible!

I bought this product mainly to store my CD's as I have a large CD collection. My main problem with this unit is it does not include enough shelves and pins (used to hold shelves) in order to make that possible. You can clearly see in the picture on the ad that in the back of the cabinet is all CD's and has enough shelving to support all of them. My unit is missing two of those shelves in order to store them properly. Not to mention the doors of the unit, there are 4 shelves missing in order to store CD's on those.

My other main issue with this product is a wrong instruction in the assembly directions. One of the locked shelves in the unit is put in the wrong place in order to store Cd's properly. By the time I realized this, almost the whole unit was put together (which took me almost 4 hours) and I would've had to take pretty much the whole thing apart in order to correct this problem because it was one of the first steps in the assembly instructions. 

What seemed like a pretty nice and promising unit has turned out to be really disappointing. At this time, I'm pretty sure I am contacting Walmart to return this and get my money back. Go look at other units if you are wanting to purchase one. I would not recommend this.
