Okay I really didn't know what to expect. But I had to try something since black out curtains and other items out there are so expensive. They are made of paper but I have been shocked at what a big difference these shades have made in my upstairs. Big difference! I told my sister about them and for the price it is worth it because if you don't like them it's not like you spent $10 or more dollars on them. I like the clips that come with the shades to pull them up if I need to allow light in because let me tell you "these shades do black out light". But it has made a huge difference as to how much hot heat light it has kept out and made my upstairs cooler. I am actually going to purchase more for I have a lot of windows in my upstairs. So if you don't mind that they are paper and totally darken a room which is exactly what it is supposed to do, then try them. The only thing I found could be better or stronger is the adhesive that holds them up. but it's no big deal to me-I used additional tape to keep them more secure.

My expensive "light blocking" vertical blinds didn't block out enough light. I doubled these for extra blackout, attached them to a board and hung them up in my extremely sunny bedroom window (which also has streetlights shining in at night). My room is as dark as night ... and I love it!

Great (and Cheap) Blackout Shades

Moved into an apartment that has a half circle window in the master bedroom. While it looks nice, the window lets in way too much light and heat as it faces the afternoon sun here in California all day. Bought 4 of these and stuck two together creating a fan like look to it, then did the same with the other two. Put one in front of the other on the window and what do ya know, it worked like a charm! Mind you, these are paper, so that's why they are so cheap, but they block out all the light and some of the heat. Did not want to invest in anything pricey since this is an apartment, so these were a good buy!

Works on half circle windows too!!

This is the second shade like this that I've bought. I've had the first one for a few years now. It does fade a bit in the sun, but it's not bad. For the price, you can't beat it.

Great price and does the job.

Bought this for my son's room because he works nights and sleeps days so he needed it really dark in his room. The shade worked great and when not in use you can just roll it up.

Great Shade

I work third shift every now and then. With these black out shades I get the darkness of night time during the day. They let me get the rest I need. Plus who doesn't like to close off the world and curl up with a good movie in the afternoon.

Love them

Pretty dark and easy to put up, however, if your window faces the sun you need to back up the adhesive with some thumbtacks or pins. Not a big deal considering how cheap these are. Good for short term use or if you can keep the room dark permanently. Folding them up is not too easy but can be done in about 4 minutes and then you clip them into place. Not elegant, but quick and easy and keeps the room pretty dark even with sun directly on the shade. If you need two, let them overlap instead of cutting them even and it keeps it darker.

For the price they do the job well

This blinds do a great job of blacking a room out...... When they stay up!! I bought 4 of these for the windows in my sons room. Within an hour one had fallen down. So I took tape and reinforced all of them. Still had two fall. I have trying to get around sticking tacks in the seal. Love them if they would just stay up!!!

Needs more sticky!

These blinds dont lie- they definitely block the sun light from coming in. However the sticky strip that holds them up didnt last longer than 24 hours for us and we have tried everything to ge t them to stay- packing tape, nails, nothing can hold these suckers up!!

Kinda works

I bought this to darken my baby's room. It does that, but the curtain always falls down. The tape held for a few days then I found them laying on the floor. If you are buying them so you dont have to put holes in the window frame, dont because you need to use some kind of push pin or little nails to keep them up.
