I BOUGHT FROM WALMART A GREAT INEXPENSIVE SET,NOT CHEAPLY MADE, FOR LESS THAN $45.00 AND THEY COOK GREAT ON THIS COOKTOP!! (COOK PRO 7 PIECE 18/10 STAINLESS STEEL COOKWARE SET) THIS COOKTOP BOILED WATER WITHIN 1 MIN. AND THE BEST PART IS IT WONT HEAT UP THE ROOM WHILE I'M COOKING! I LIVE IN AN RV FULL TIME FOR NOW, AND THIS COOKTOP IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER USED. I USE MY MICROWAVE OVEN FOR HEATING UP LEFTOVERS AND FROZEN DINNERS, ETC. My husband and I are in the midst of a house remodel and I will be without a kitchen for a few months. I bought a regular double hot plate and it did not even get hot enough to boil water for pasta. Forget it! Returned the same day.

So my husband suggested an induction hot plate and we purchased this model. It is better even than any gas burner I've ever cooked on. I use cast iron with it and have made gorgeous fried chicken, crispy veggie burgers, several stews, pancakes, quesadillas and other items that I would normally use a stovetop burner for. The heat stays even, and the simmer stays low enough to cook excellent rice every time.

This item is so great it's causing us to rethink the idea of even putting a normal cooktop into our new kitchen. We're thinking that a couple of these atop our cooking island would do the trick and then they can be stored in a drawer when Not in use. The induction cooktop prices out at around $500 or more. Two or three of these burners doesn't even crack $200 .

The only thing I can think of that might be construed as a negative is that you can only use ferrous metals with these burners and that might require another purchase of new cookware. Since we already own cast iron pieces, that was not an issue.

Very impressive results

I bought two, one as a second one to go with a Nuwave unit purchased last year, and one to give as a gift for a friend. I am very pleased with this unit and it offers great value for the price. I have a large collection of cast iron, some more than half century old, and I also have some induction ready stainless skillets and the unit works great with either. It is used for everything from cooking eggs to deep frying fish, and does low temp cooking and high temp cooking equally well.

Well satisfied for the price

Great product, heats fast and evenly. Works well with steel based or cast iron. Anything magnetic, so check your cookware first! I use it with cast iron to keep from scratching our glass kitchen cooktop and in the wet bar for heating water. Timer and automatic shut off if no cookware on surface. Preset temperature settings. Base stays cool. Highly recommend

Bought this looking to cook food using the sous vide method but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a sous vide machine. It keeps the temperature constant and works perfectly. The only thing I would change is to have more smaller temperature increments. The temperature settings are in 20 degree increments.

Great for Sous Vide

We live in a 5th wheel and our stove runs on propane. Propane is at a premium right now, so we wanted to try an induction cooktop to save propane. What a great choice we made! It works so easily and well. We're thinking of getting a second one. Great product and great price.

have not had it long enough to truly rate the durability, but the heat up time on my pot is fantastic! I can heat things faster than with my microwave!
Just be sure you know the symbol of the induction pans, and how to check for compatibility. Copper clad, ceramic covered will NOT work! Otherwise, a great item!

I like this item!

I find that the induction cook top met all descriptions as advertised. Its fast, no difference that I can detect in the food quality, cleans so much easier then a stove top and can be placed anywhere there is an outlet. Especially recommend for people who are starting to get forgetful.

Most of my cookware does not work as it is not the right kind of metal. I don't wish to stockpile new cookware just to use with this burner, as I really don't have the space in my kitchen. It does work pretty well with the right kind of (magnetic) metal cookware.
Also, I was worried about not having too much else plugged into the 15amp circuit, as quite a bit of my house (over 50 years old) runs off the same circuit. This means I can't watch the tv or listen to the sound system or have my over-the-stove light turned on or the coffeepot turned on at the same time as using the burner.
Last weekend I used it with my (stainless steel) pressure cooker and it had a heck of a time keeping up with it. Kept cycling back and forth between the full-power indicator and the error code regarding the temp sensor. I'm pretty sure nothing is actually defective with it, it only has limited error codes it can display--it was obviously having trouble bringing the pressure cooker with the whole chicken and vegetables covered with water up to temp.

good as a spare burner.

Temperature adjustments too broad. Twenty degree jumps make it impossible to cook at a specific temp. Add variances in hot spots on the induction ready skillet I bought just for this cook top and I end up with burned areas on fried meats or very long cook times. Using an older cast iron skillet made no difference in resulting hot spots. Since I have had and used this item for only a short time I will continue to practice and see if my manipulations of temp and different utensils will change the outcome.

Not real happy with this purchase.

Not what I was hoping for.

Sometimes water boils at a setting of 180 f, other times it appears to to heat to the desired
setting (within a twenty degree spread) so some foods get burned very quickly.
It even burned some of the non stick surface off a pan while scrambling eggs and melted
the high temp utensil I was using. I will return it.
If all you want to do is boil water, it will work OK.
Of course, you can a much cheaper electric boiler if that is all you need. But, if you need
controlled cooking temps, don't trust it.
It could be that I have a defective unit but, I will return it and try another.

Temp. settings are unreliable.
