I have been using these since July 2019 (now is August 2021) on hikes all over Scotland - over moor, munroe, bog and ben. Never had a more comfortable and water resistant boot. Used them for 100s of kilometers in varied terrain with no quality issues.  

No 1 concern for a hiking boot is fit though, and this is very individual. Salomon generally has a perfect fit for my rather slim and long feet so I took a chance and ordered these boots in my usual size, and was happy to find that they fit perfectly. In the boot I use just a medium-light merino hiking sock (no need for liner+outer because of the amount of padding). I can walk 20km a day with no blister or comfort issues, which was not the case in my previous boots of another brand. A design feature I particularly like is the rounded shoe lace (very durable) and the toothed lace clasp that give great control over the tightness of the lacing. These boots stay dry for longer than any other boot I've had (even now that they're 3 years old), and longer than my friends' hiking boots too. 

This type of padded gore-tex boot will eventually wear out, but so far it's holding up well and it seems I might get a few more years out of them. Will definitely get another pair of this model when the time comes.

Love these boots.  I pounded the mountains on a goat hunt... Heavy packs wet conditions everyday.  From Sept through November I was putting 40 miles a week in the high alpine.  these boots were awesome.  I tried the Quest 4 and didn't like them at all compared to these.  high support, light weight, dry, excellent traction.  I wish Salomon would put this traction on the old X alpine mtn boot and start building them again.

I have owned 4 pairs of these boots. Hands down they have been the best back packing boot I have owned. I love the lightweight, and yet they have a true backpacking high collar that provides wonderful ankle stability and protection. Also, there is just the right about of cushioning, without lifting you up too high (unstable).... BUT 1 of pairs I owned had defective cinches and just pulled out. These are not boots meant to last. I would say you will get less than 500 miles depending how heavy you are.

Great boot. Perfect in every way except the ankles have too much padding. I know you are going for stability but I think you could use half the thickness. Love the traction, it doesn't get any better.

enclosed picture demonstrates how the same size 13 boot differs.  I hiked in these for 3 weeks to break them in and offer a fair comparison to my other solomons.  The new boot is narrower even after a 3 week break in period hiking over rough terrain and local hiking trails.  The boot is longer than my other pair of solomons even though they are the same size.  It has a "clown" like appearance to the front of the boot.  You guys are doing the exact same thing that KEEN  did.  Your toe box is decreasing in width, even though it is a small change, and you add that width change to the length on your standard size boots!!  Now I am forced to buy a wider boot, at a higher price.  I stopped buying ANY KEEN product for this exact same reason!!!!  These changes to your boot design, while small, make a HUGE difference to people with wider feet!  Now I am forced to go to another brand!  I LOVED YOUR OLD BOOT DESIGN AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE!!  I realize the boots are 2 different designs of boots, but your width construction should be EXACTLY the same.  The other design differences can change, but not your overall length and width.  IF this is a cost saving measure to increase your bottom line, it is a poor one.

I've had these boots for 3 years now  and I have to say the fit like my slippers unfortunately for a boot that is supposed to be good for trails after 0.5yrs they started to split along the join between the sole and the leather then after about year they started to leak. also the sole has worn so that there is no tread and I'm down to the core on both heels. I wasn't aware of the of 2 year guarantee but I would have expected more than the 2 years of wear from a hiking boot (my previous pair I had for 7 years!). I'm in the market for some new boots and if comfort was my only concern I would not hesitate to buy these again, but I can't afford to keep buying shoes year on year. 5 star fit, 1 star function, and therefore 2 stars overall.

The boot is extremely comfortable and need no breaking in that is the good news also is very stylish ,but since changing style to the 4DX and 4D Salomon have done away with the reinforcement of stitching strengthening before the toe piece . Since dropping this method the boots are only lasting between 6 and 9 months before splitting either side of the toe piece. I have noticed today that you are launching a newer boot in April and reintroducing the stitching again this may be a saviour for the boot in my eyes . At the moment I could no recommend the boot but will definitely give the newer boot a chance.

Great boot , but unfortunately not robust enough

I bought a 2nd pair probably just over 2 years ago (kept in reserve for over 3months) because the 1st pair were so comfy & lasted well with plenty of miles completed. Having used the 2nd pair quite sparingly in comparison (evident with sole wear) they have failed mainly on the inside just before the toe cap which seems a common issue looking at the reviews. Whilst this happened with the 1st pair ultimately they had done significantly more mileage with lots of wear on the sole so I couldn't complain about them.

I bought these boots in November 2021. They fitted really nicely. My walking is entirely in suburban parks and easy nature trails and averages 2-3 miles per day. However, in early March 2022, and within a couple of days of each other, splits appeared in the on the outer edge of both boots towards the toe cap. The boots aren't strong enough in that key part of the design. Really disappointing. Sadly, I cannot possibly recommend.

Purchased in Oct 2020 but within 5 months the uppers have started to degrade where they meet the sole.  They are extremely comfortable, so I hope that I have just been unlucky. I've submitted a warranty claim so hopefully the replacement pair will live up to expectation.......!
