I've officially made this my gps unit along with mobile office for working out of my truck. I absolutely love the Samsung Flow app as it will automatically connect my S8 Active and tablet together along with tethering when I walk out of the house or office wifi. This is the perfect size for mobility sake along with magnet mounting on my dashboard as my gps unit. Also, Otterbox makes an awesome case for this as well if you take a walkabout on worksites and you're worried about dropping it.

I really like this tablet, and it's more affordable in comparison to the other models. My only complain is that its screen quality is not as good as other Samsung products and it's not even full HD. Except that, it's works very well and the battery last for a long time.

I'm older and recieved this as a present. It is fairly slow and that's the only downside. I love the size of screen and the picture is absolutely beautiful.

Galaxy Tab A

This is  sturdy, reliable tablet that does what you need. It's easy to use and a comfortable size. There's no bells and whistles (hence only 4 stars), but if you're on a budget this is a great choice.

Good basic tablet

The screen is nice and bright, but much too glossy to be usable outdoors; picture-taking can be difficult.

The Home button is good, but the Recent and Back touch areas beside it are difficult to see in dim light and too easy to accidentally touch; buttons would have been a better choice.

The battery life is very good (about 15 hours when new) and charges quickly using the included charger.

The use of Android 7 (Nougat) is also appreciated, but it would be nice if Samsung could let us know via the Software Update system whether version 8 (Oreo) will be made available in the future.

The tablet is a bit heavy and unwieldy, but that is to be expected for 8+" devices.

The ability to use a large microSD card is good, but Samsung messed it up by removing the Android ability to use the card as an extension of the internal memory; this limits the card's usefulness, since apps and their basic data can only be stored internally. And even when some of the apps' data can be moved to the card, it has to be done one app at a time, sometimes via the Settings system and sometimes within the app itself, and it's never clear just how much internal memory will be released if you do so.

Also, Settings > Device Maintenance > Storage for the SD card is very misleading. Its report said that Apps on the card took up over 3GB of space, and yet only 250MB of space was actually being used. I don't know whether this is a problem with Android, Samsung, or a third-party software provider, but it needs to be fixed.

Mostly good, but with a few misfeatures

I bought this Tab A 8 32GB because it has the newest Android 7.1 OS and a fast quad core processor for my wife to replace a 5 year old Galaxy Tab 10.1 with not enough grunt (slow).
So far we are happy with the features and the user interface...especially the performance. It will take some time to utilize all of the features.

I bought this tablet and this was my first android ever the first few months it was great but then the battery was starting to get bad and the tablet was glitching so I did like using this tablet and it has a place in my heart but now I gave it to my brother and now the battery barely lasts an hour so I switched to an ipad but I even regret buying my 600 dollar ipad sometimes I attualy think tabs are better!and this tablet attualy has usb c with otg support so it is greate for kids that do online schooling

Bad battery life,limited ram

There always were some glitches when playing some heavy games. But besides that, tablet works as intended.

Review after 7 years (?)

I would not have bought this tablet if I had of known that the SD card which I purchased cannot add to internal memory. The SD card is only good for photos. Angry Birds 2 uses a lot of memory.
Also the last update was June 3, 2021, which means that the tablet is out of date.

Additional memory

A quick search will bring you to thousands of complaints regarding battery and charging issues which leave the device useless, usually just after the warranty has expired. 
Not sure if it is with all Samsung tablets, but do not buy this one.
