The only non-soup instant noodle I've found. Excellent taste, good texture. The seaweed packet gives it a tang that might not be suitable for all palates, however it is easily excluded. Biked for an hour to the next Walmart over to buy ten packages because my local location doesn't stock them.

Best instant chow mein noodles

As far as an instant noodle goes, they're not bad. That being said, they don't really taste a whole lot like the Yakisoba recipes I've made from actual Japanese people (whose food fits the authentic Japanese I've tried in other places that are legit). It's just sort of a little salty, a little umami… I usually want a bit more.

To make a proper and filling yakisoba, I recommend stir frying some cabbage (the flat, Taiwanese kind is excellent for this, but use what you have), carrots, onions, and some sort of protein; it can be sliced deli ham, or ground pork or beef, or thinly sliced pork or beef, or chicken, even a fried egg on top works (or scrambled). Or nothing if you want it completely vegetarian (although the egg is still an option for vegetarians, of course!). Stir fry the veg until it's where you like it. I like mine to still have a bit of crunch. Then take it out, and cook the noodles in the pan as directed, and add your sauce. When the noodles are done, add back your veg and protein and heat through. Done!

To really boost the flavour, though, I always make my own sauce and add the packet to that. And I like mine saucy. Here's a recipe from a trusted source of mine, but feel free to tweak the ratios to your own tastes:

1/4 cup Worcestershire (you can use a vegan one if your vegetarian)
4 tsp oyster sauce (“vegetarian stir fry sauce” would be the same thing, but vegan)
4 tsp ketchup
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp sugar

Just mix that together in a bowl, add in the sauce packet that comes with these noodles, and add it all once the noodles are finished cooking and you've added back the other ingredients. It will seriously boost the flavour. This amount of sauce is probably best for at least 2-3 packages, depending how saucy you like it. And of course it can be scaled down.
