I think this book shelf was a great addition to our home.  However it scratched easily and the backing is just cardboard.  The instructions were easy however I would recommend 2 people to put together.  Love that it came with a safety hook!!

Overall good buy!

Sauder products used to be better. The back of these shelves is tri-folded CARDBOARD. I don't want to see the folds as I do and this is not sturdy enough. They'll do but only just.

We purchased 2 bookcases in 1998, both of which still stand straight and tall, and no shelf warpage with large books. In 2018 we purchased 4 bookcases which were clearly not quite the same as the 1998 product, and I have had to turn shelves upside down to counter-act warpage. We purchased one bookcase in 2026, and the manufacturing quality is clearly poorer. The hardware is smaller, and the engineered wood product is less dense. I took great care to assemble it right the first time. It was clear that there was little room for error. That said, I do have confidence in its structural integrity as long as I don't overload it. I do expect to be turning the shelves sooner than 8 years from now. I recommend purchase as long as great care is used in assembly, handling, and usage.

The shelf is very easily broken and not at all stable. The size is exactly what we were looking for and we are going to try and find a way to mount it to the wall since its still much cheaper than building your own. Ive bought walmart shelves before that were basically the same exact thing that werent as flimsy. I guess you get what you pay for

The quality is very low..this company use to have decent furniture…closet maid is a much better brand…What a rip off
