Instructions are vague at times, especially when installing the drawer rails.  Screws, nails, etc package could be better marked (larger lettering, in white not black on black). Took 2 of us just under 3 hours.  All in all, very nice desk and feels sturdy.

Received this desk ahead of time. It's beautiful and sturdy and exceeded my expectations. Like all the storage we get with the desk as well. Also purchased the utility stand that goes with it for our printer.

Excellent

Being a single woman who has put items together before, just give yourself a couple hours of quiet time. All you need is a drill (although they say not to. . HA, it will save you LOTS of time!) a hammer and a Philips screwdriver and you'll have it together in no time. All I needed help with, after I completed the desk, was lining up the cabinet door and the top drawer because those are always challenges for me on any projects. Other than that, if I can do it, anyone can do it. TRUST ME. My suggestion is just to seriously read the directions and look at the pics, they'll guide you to completion. I love my desk and I purchased the bookshelf, the cabinet AND the ladder shelf all to match and I put them all together by myself, even the desk. Where there is a will, there is a way (I'm 46 if it helps to know that). Great quality and I LOVE the set!

This is a well designed, functional, and good looking desk. Not only is it made of quality materials and finishes, the engineering is flawless and the assembly process is easy to follow with all parts well labeled - and everything fits together perfectly. I was leery of something that required so much assembly, but Sauder has it down to a science!

Highly Recommended Product

Lots of parts. Slow assembly but good instructions, as long as you pay attention. Finished product is very functional with a nice look. One short coming. . . file drawer glides are too short for full extension. I called customer service, and they immediately sent out glides that were a little longer. One phone call did it! Thank you

good bang for your buck. . . I would buy this product again

The Sauder computer desk is a very nice desk for the money.  It's solid, attractive, and functional. Took a while to assemble, but instructions were easy to follow.  My only criticism is that if you have the desk freestanding in the room, except for the privacy panel in the middle, the "backs" are simply flimsy panels that are nailed on.  I would have preferred either something more substantial or if they could have been installed from the back in a manner that didn't require exposed nails.

Very nice desk

Laminate was extremely thin like paper and peeling from many boards. Had to reglue them down and use black sharpie to touch up the rest. If you do not know how to adjust doors with hinges, you may have difficulty lining the right drawers up so that they don't rub. Do not use any liquids on this desk (I.e. water cups, coffee, other drinks in general) or leave small water puddles from plants. It is mdf and with the thin laminate soaks up fluids easily causing the dreaded mdf water bumps. Using as a daily desk has already shown many scratches and indents from paper and pen writing.  Ok desk for my teens but not something to keep forever. More of a use for a few years and pitch type of desk.

Quality is Going Downhill

The desk design in the picture is what I wanted. The description and specifications in fine print say that it comes without a hutch, and the item I received did not have a hutch. The picture and actual item you receive are not the same. Walmart needs to edit the photo.

I was so excited to receive and build this. The style, color and size are exactly what I was looking for! It was easy to assemble and seemed to fit the bill. It looks great -- just as pictured. That said, we noticed out of the box that it had a super strong toxic kind varnish odor. It's not unusual for new furniture to have a bit of a new furniture (even paint) smell so I wasn't overly concerned. But this has been the bedroom for a month now, and the toxic smell is still overwhelming!! I have to keep the door open and even open the window occasionally. It makes my nose and lungs burn as soon as I walk in. I decided today, I've got to get rid of for the sake of our health. I'll be contacting the company tomorrow. I don't know where this furniture is made but I can't believe the materials can pass U. S. safety and health standards.

Ive purchased several pieces of furniture from Sauder over the last few months for my teens redesigned room. Ive had great experiences so far and I was very excited about this desk. But, every drawer and sliding track is ABSOLUTELY TRASH. The keyboard tray is garbage. I couldnt be less satisfied and never will purchase another item even though I need a desk for my daughter. Ive googled the issues and found its something a large portion of people experienced. The desk has a large chunk missing right in the front now from trying to get the drawers and tray in the track.

Absolutely CRAP. Worst thing Ive purchased.
