Design

Its difficult to get the nozzle to open to dispense, there's a small spine that runs along the top, if you follow it back towards the cap you'll notice a small indent where it slides in. Pushing down in that area allows the spine to drop below this lip, and when the bottom of the nozzle catches the fuel rim you can push the nozzle into it the spline slides into the slot and the fuel will dispense. There's no instruction to show this, and I guess they were expecting the nozzle to slide in in all by itself. Welcome to the world of plastics! Oh yeah, don't lose the small cap that blocks the lid when you try to put the spout back in the can...

The spout mechanism is difficult to use and leaks plus it's so slow pouring that you arms get tired before the can empties. I returned the two I bought because of the poor design.

Terrible Spout

The cans themselves are sturdy and good quality. The pouring spouts require you compress a tab to allow flow. This makes filling a tank a bit awkward.

Scepter 5 gal Diesel Can, Yellow

I have tried to review this before, but apparently they filter these reviews if they dont like them.  This can is only 3 gallons at the 5 gallon mark is my first complaint.   It is barely 4 gallons when it is filled to the top and overflowing.   That turns filling my 20 gallon tractor take from a 4 trip job to a 7 trip job!  While filling with this I have to turn it back over about 50 times per fill to let it vent.  The product claims that the nozzle is self venting and maybe it is, but the vent does no good if it is the same location as the nozzle since it will be fully covered with diesel fluid.  In other words the vent is useless and if you don't want this can to collapse on itself while your filling you need to either turn it over about 50 times per fill or cut a hole in the upper rear section of the can where the vent used to be on older cans.  The nozzle is also poorly designed.  You have to press down on the gas tank opening to apply downward pressure on the nozzle then you have to press the nozzle handle inward to get any diesel to poor out.   Since they only put one handle on the top and no handle on the side, using one hand for the nozzle push button is difficult, especially when you are having to turn it back over ever 4 seconds for the diesel can to vent!l  I would not recommend this to anyone  and give my condolences to anyone that purchased my can without reading my review. poor design and only 3 gallon container

With the new regs from 2009 forward for fuel cans, the pour spouts are harder to use than ever. The fuel can itself is great! Buy the can at Walmart and then at TSC get the EZ-Pour universal spout.

Good can, aweful pour spout

Bought one and it wouldn't pour. Exchanged for a new one same result. The cans walmart used to carry were much better.

Spout is junk - won't pour

Adult proof design makes it worthless. I hauled 5 gallons of fuel over 5,000 mile just in case on a recent trip. When it came time to use the fuel, I could not get to work. Save your money. This is junk.

Poor Design

I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Total waist of money! Whomever designed has never fueled any diesel equipment, especially tractor with a fill opening at chest height or higher. Vented nozzle allows only a trickle of fuel and is easily broken or bent. I bought one of those retrofit nozzles but neither thread pattern matched! All in the landfill!!

Junk

Even with the spout screwed on tight it was leaking. Then as you are pouring it's just a trickle, then it stops, then gulps, then trickles some more. The vent design does not work at all so it takes almost 10 minutes to our the full can out. It's very frustrating.

Shipped on time and in good shape, cheaper than ant where else.
Have it in back of truck for emergency fuel. Has the new funky spout but seems to work.
