I was looking for a external hard drive for pictures and videos I had stored on my phone as well as to store documents from my computer. It is easy to use. It arrived undamaged and when it was supposed to. It is compact and doesn't take up much room.

The Expansion USB Hard Drive interfaced effortlessly with my 13-year-old Windows 10 i5Core desktop.  I simply installed a new directory in the Seagate drive and moved files (and sub-directories) into that location.    Drag %26 Drop as well as Copy/Paste worked fine.  The loading speed seems fine.  I moved approximately 560 GB into the drive without problems.

Best price for a reliable easy to use external drive. Just plug it in and start moving files. The new Seagate housings have ventilation holes for cooling.

all other drives I purchased in the last roughly 10 years lasted about a year these were prinarily SAMSUNG (The onlySamsung producis I've ever had issues with) and Western Digital. All the Seagate drives I've purchased  the last 5 to 7 years lasted at least 3 years excluding the ones I dropped only 1 failed  in less than 2 years it had free data recovery and was replaced for free.  Always check the length of the warranty and if data recovery is included. please do that with hard drives from any manufacturer.   BTW this is the smallest drive  I've purchased in several years I needed it to back up a computer I was sending in for repair and Walmart was out of the 8 TB model.

Why I always buy Seagate hard drives.

Although this exceeds my current back-up needs, the cost was low enough to make it worthwhile. This is a brand I've used in the past and haven't ever had problems.

Quality Product At Reasonable Price

Easy as plug it and and its ready.  I couldn't have asked for more.  Now my photos from my family hisoty can be scanned and saved.  And on top of that I can download my music and still have more room than I will ever need.  Andmy system is easily backed up so my inportant items are not lost incase of a computer failure.

I have owned Seagate products in the past and they have never let me down.

Best bang for your dollar

I was disappointed to find that the wrong connecting cable was in the package. It included a USB A to C cable instead of the required USB A to micro B cable. 

I hope this problem is a one-off and not a system wide manufacturing problem for this model. I contacted Seagate about this issue and is working for a resolution. To purchase the proper cable would cost at least $10 which would add to the cost. For the additional cost, I could have purchase a higher capacity HD instead.

Otherwise, the hard drive works well. The drive is as described. Very nicely packaged. It came with the backup software and an assortment of international power adaptors for the power supply so this is obviously an international export model.

Good HD but with wrong connecting cable.

I have many Seagate drives a lot of them, the portable USB only. this one here requires a plug-in to power supply. there's only so many plugs in my house. I needed one that just plugged into a computer and ran off the computer's power so I haven't actually installed it or used this. I'm sure it's a good drive. Seagate makes good drives but if you have limited plugs this is not for you. I'm having to return it.

The drive does not show up on my file manager.  I've checked both the power and the USB connections. I've opened the device manager and this drive does not appear under disk drives.
I've followed all of the advice I've found and nothing has worked.
I am going to try to return this item b/c I shouldn't have to be searching for advice on how to make this drive work; it should be plug and play.

Won't show up; tried all the advice - won't work

Upon opening package it was obvious that the device was several years old using outdated technology, computer did recognize device software on it was allegedly 3 months old, but also completely non functional and non responsive.
