I bought this as a more compact alternative to my Fujifilm  XT-1. Previously my second camera was a Leica X1 which had a fabulous lens albeit fixed , but some of the controls were easily knocked out of place. I bought a used a6000 for my little granddaughter to start off in photography and was so impressed I thought I would get myself an A6400 so we could share lenses. The a6400 hasn't disappointed and I'm sure once I get used to the menu's it will be great. I do a lot of sports photography and tried the a6000 out at a rugby match with the kit telephoto which came with  the a6000. I was extremely impressed especially as the camera was so light compared to the Fuji. My intention is to use the fuji when the weather is bad as it is fully weather sealed(body and lenses). I will use the Sony in better weather and for Summer cricket and street photography where the light weight will be a bonus. I'm very impressed with build quality and positive control functions.

Great Compact Camera

Recommended by an experienced photographer I purchased it as a new starter, you need to practise using it but on auto it's easy to use and produces great photographs.  I have started with the Sony 18/135mm lens and its great (there are lots of lenses to choose from moving forward). I would recommend the camera to anyone, although I have a lot to learn to really use the power of the a6400

Excellent good level camera for new starters

Bought this to reduce the weight of my camera gear from a DSLR as I found I was carrying a compact camera around rather than my heavy gear, but as a consequence the quality and responsiveness was reduced. The A6400 has better autofocus than my DSLR, is as responsive and has the same if not slightly better quality (much more so than the compact I was using).

The eye tracking is great and surprisingly sticky in that it will track like it is stuck on the eye or face or object. The exposure is highly accurate and I often do not need to dial in any compensation.

All in all a remarkable camera in a small body that is suitable for most types of photography.

Great Autofocus

I bought this camera recently to fit in between my pro DSLR and Ricoh GR III and it certainly hasn't disappointed. The image quality is excellent and the focusing is lightening fast and accurate. I have found the menu system easy to use and intuitive. All in all a fantastic all rounder and so easy to transport with a couple of lenses!

Superb all rounder, for all skill levels.

Had this camera for 2 weeks now, moved over from Canon. 
It took a little while (couple hours) to get the setting as I like but now that it's up and running it's excellent.

The app that's suggested in the box is beyond awful as you will see on the reviews, but there's plenty of other apps to use. 

The only thing I wish that camera had was that the screen flips out to the left of the camera as well as flipping above it.

Does exactly what you want

I had heard a lot about this product on Youtube good and bad. I was going to the Photography Show at Birmingham NEC. So visited the Sony stand to have a closer look. And was not disappointed. So impressed I bought one off one of the trade stands at the show. I also bought an adaptor to fit other lenses to it from other brands. Which when I got home using other brand lenses I got full functionality from the Sony A6400 all the fantastic features as you can see by the photos of birds I took. Not only was I impressed so was my friend he bought one as well after the results he saw I was getting.I am still going through all the menus to find what the camera can do. It is a new learning curve.

I AM GETTING PHOTOGRAPHS I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD

Bought this 3 weeks ago and am getting to grips with the complicated computer system of the camera.First impressions. Takes great pictures and video, works very well with external mic, is lightweight and relatively robust. Downside: the shutter button isn't in the best place, but that might be a personal preference. Overall, very happy.

Amazing camera

Pros:
- Excellent picture quality in 4k
- Plenty of setting possibilities in 4k
- Amazing autofocus even video mode
- Light weight
- Excellent picture quality in RAW

Cons:
- No tracking eye focus in video mode
- No face detection if external monitor connected (Samsung Galaxy S10 plus via wifi)
- No 60 fps or more in 4k
- No IBIS
- Poor battery life
- Touch screen limitation
- Power zoom speed not adjustable
- Rolling shutter
- Using DJI Ronin SC focus wheel for zoom: not smooth
Walking with gimbal (DJI Ronin SC) the picture is shaking a little bit (other cameras, for example the Olympus Pen E-PL9 is not) - any solution (firmware update)?
- The attached video has been made with Ronin SC, Sony 16-50 3.5-5.6 OSS lens, picture profile 10, no color grading, no warp stabilizer

Great camera but...

Bought this camera 3 months ago , like most of the features
Quite new to photography but used Sony lots for Video in the past
This camera is good for Photography
The 4k video however is quite useless due to rolling shutter

Good Camera for price point

I bought this 6 months ago and am working out to use it properly. I mainly take photographs of landscapes and mechanical models. I am trying to take simple wildlife photograph.
I like the camera but will never give anything five stars.

E6400 camera

Can't 'verify connection' when attached via USB - although the connection is working to transfer files. Stuck in an endless loop trying to get it to connect so I can add and update apps. Nothing online that matches the ''error' message. So all of that USB/software stuff is useless to me.
