Blows the 4 series TCL out of the water. Im so glad i did my research and went with the 5 series. You get the QLED with higher brightness, high contrast and 80 local dimming zones so the blacks are very good. It also comes with the better Roku remote with voice. Definatly worth the extra $160 i spent to go from the 4 to 5 series.

This TV was a huge upgrade from my 50" Visio D50. The picture quality is signifyingly better. The built-in speakers are some of the best I've heard, but I still use an external soundbar with subwoofer (used the eARC HDMI port to control the soundbar, works much better than my old optical cable). Setup was easy, the remote paired quickly, performance is excellent in the Roku app, and I tweaked the picture to be just how I wanted it. I almost didn't pay more for QLED, but now I am glad I did.

This is a great TV

After a month, the TV seems good. Great for the price, decent sound and picture. I wouldn't go with less than QLED at this point, given the price. OLED isn't worth the extra yet, IMHO. Only complaint: the box came really beat up, smashed on the corners and edges. Someone was throwing it around. Might have been the shipper. It's a miracle the TV was OK inside.

Great TV, smashed box

the picture is pretty darn good. much better than the tcl 4 series. I bought the 4 series and had it for less than a year then let it go with house sale. i decided to step up to this 5 series since the price was crazy low. quality much better. The sound on this tv even beats the darn tcl sound bar/sub i combo'd with this!
i will buy another when my garage is complete. The roku system works great. i have to restart the tv once per month at most. Streaming is great, color is fine too.

love it

If your on a tight budget and you want a quality TV, this is it. I have it in a fairly bright room, and there is know problems. The QLED screen really shines. Upscaling is very impressive. I own Samsungs flagship TV, considering I paid 4X as much for it, so I know the difference, and I am still impressed with this TV. Nothing else in this price range compares. And believe me I looked.

High Quality, Budget TV

I was so excited to get this TV I looked up recommendations and comments. About this TV.
I really thought this was going to be a lot sharper and vivid. Not that impressed!
It's fine for now but I really should have bought it in person instead of online.

Average

I bought this TV twice. The remote didnt work more than a foot away even with the replacement remote they sent. The 2nd tv the picture burned out 6 weeks after I pur hased it. I have another TCL tv, so im thinking it has to the the "qled" products. Im hoping to get this resolved, as i didnt purchase the warranty, and cant return it to the store. Its still covered under the manufacturer warranty. Stay away from this tv

Do Not Buy

Very nice picture and features.  The only problem (and it's a huge one) is that the TV keeps randomly turning itself OFF.  This has now happened four times in three days, even after making all the settings adjustments that TCL recommends to others facing the same issue.  As much as I like the TV, if this keeps happening I will be forced to return it.

Big issue with random "auto-shut-off".

I have had this TV for less than 2 weeks and I'm already having problems with it. Everything in my house would connect to the Internet except for the TV. Upon doing my own research on TCL's website it said to factory reset the TV to fix the Internet connection. However after I factory reset the TV my remote disconnected and would not reconnect . I called Tech Support and we went through all the steps to fix the issue however they were unable to fix it also. I should be receiving a replacement remote in a couple of days. I'm hoping that it will help me restore internet connectivity to my TV. However there is still an unresolved issue and I feel that it is way too soon to be having issues with the TV. Not good... not good.

TV has a ton of issues 2 weeks after purchase

The TV panel had terrible dirty screen effect in the background on both sides look like a green blob also the TV was not very bright and the Roku not letting you set anything on the TV just sucks. The only thing good on the whole TV was the contrast I thought it looked decent just wasn't bright enough, the speakers were okay not great. I hear the Google OS is better for the TCL I don't know what model that would be I may try that next. That was a 2019 model I believe I hear the 2023s will be much better and brighter so I may just wait till they come out.
