These are the deep dish ones so make sure you are making one and a half times your standard pie filling amount

They come to in a pack so if you are using a prepared pie filling like the lemon pie mix use three packs and split it across two pies

Always tasty, light, flaky, and delicious

A great alternative to homemade

It's a good pre-made pie. I usually bake pie by itself from frozen for 400C, about 15-17 minutes until golden brown. I prefer it to be slightly thicker. The pie feels slightly a bit thin for me.

This is thee best store bought pastry. Closest to my moms I'll ever find without making from scratch.

I use Tenderflake lard to make my own pastry but when I am in a hurry I use these pie shells. They are flaky and delicious. Easy to use and handy to keep in the freezer for when you want to whip up a quick dessert, quiche or meat pie. I wouldn't be without them.

Best pastry next to homemade.

Other than home made, this brand is the best on the market. I do have a few issues though. These used to be made with tenderflake lard, and now they use hydrogenated vegetable oil - an inferior change. They also seem to be getting smaller every year and don't even fit a standard pie plate. The regular ones are practically flat. When I'm pressed for time I occasionally use these though and they do the job well.

Good quality pie pastry, close to home made

Ran short of my homemade pie crust making deep dish tourtiere and a blueberry pie and so made the rhubarb pie on Tenderflake's product made with simpler ingredients but it did not come out okay. Used the second pie crust to cover the top of the pie. The bottom crust did not cook well at all and sort of made a goopy gluey gew when combined in cooking with the filling. Normally, I do not have to pre-bake the bottom shell for rhubarb pie. It is a 2-crust pie. Have used Tenderflake ready made crusts successfully enough in past but not bought any for some time. Have always found frozen pie crusts a bit on thin side and lacking flakiness of homemade but adequate enough in a pinch and handy to have on hand for a quick dessert. Perhaps this particular crust is best used in situation where you prebake the crust and put some sort cream pie inside instead of messier fruit and sugar filling? Didn't enjoy top crust much better and wound up I just ate part of the filling. Will never waste home grown rhubarb on store bought crust again. If buy this again, will only be for cream pie or ice cream pie and so forth. I probably should have done the thicker blueberry canned pie filling in the frozen crust and used homemade crust for the rhubarb perhaps? Live and learn I suppose? Won't make fruit pie with scratch filling that needs lots of sugar and flour for thickening in this crust again. What a mess! The homemade crust pies came out fine but this sure didn't. Gosh, am glad did not waste all the expensive meats for the tourtiere by trying make that pie with this product. I might experiment a bit more with this crust to see if was a fluke failure but at this point have to say would not risk it if matters that your pie works out.

Not good choice for 2-crust rhubarb pie

Please read the ingredients because this product has LARD in it! Yuck! I am shocked that in today's day and age of multiculturalism and wellness in Canada we still have to read the ingredients on a pastry item because it could have lard in it! Are we still in the 1950's???
