I had issues with the standard metal (pull up push down) bath plug, so I pulled it out. This is a long hair household, so the drain gets plugged frequently, and it was hard to fish it out around the old plug. The cylinder on the bottom of this flex plug is smaller than the drain itself, but the wide flap generously covers the area around the drain, so it completely plugs the water during baths. This also makes it easy to pull out & remove hair. I don't have a problem with “how difficult it is to remove the hair”. Just take some scissors, remove the hair, clean the plug, and put it back. It's easy. You push down and pull up the flap in the centre to drain water. I haven't had a problem with how quickly the water drains during showers or baths...just clean the hair at the rate you should, and would have to with any other drain plug. It's been a month, and I haven't noticed any smells...but I will be curious about how this holds up in a year. I do mustard baths, bath bombs, salts, coffee, etc...no issues with draining or staining.

Plugs the bath drain properly

Seemed a little bit big for my drain
Seemed to fit better after I ran hot water over it
I love it I don't have to worry about anything falling down the drain and if I need to plug the drain I just give it a push

Really happy with this purchase. I was sad that the Umbra cover with the little buddy seemed nowhere to be found. But this is a perfect and more pratical replacement. It fits our Moen drain perfectly in the kids bathtub. It's catching hair and I love that I can buy a new one when it's starts to get moldy in the kids tub. I bought three!

Happy

I have really thick hair that sheds like crazy! My bathroom sink is constantly getting clogged and I recently had to get it snaked. This new plug has been so effective for catching my hair yet still letting the water flow. My drain hasn't clogged since and the price is right!

So effective!

I have long hair and the last time my drain got clogged I had to have it snaked. I bought this several months ago and haven't had any problems. When it gets to much hair on it I just turn it upside down under running water then all of the hair comes off without any problems.

Works Great

I'm a woman and stray hairs in the shower are something we all hate dealing with, especially when it becomes time to declog the drain. I have loved this and how well it works for catching all my fall out! And I love how it just blends right in to the bottom of our tub!

Works so well

Again This is a great product from Umbra. It works It looks smart There is nothing quite like it available online that I was able to find.

Another great thing from Umbra

makes water drain slower so water pools in tub, leaves mess after water turned off

slow draining

I have long hair and have used multiple products to prevent hair clogs. The catcher is aesthetically pleasing and effective, but it's removing the hair from the catcher that makes it a deal breaker. The hair gets so tightly around the catcher that you are ripping it off, if you are lucky. I have also had to cut the hair out of the catch on multiple occasions.

Looks great, effective, but at a price...

Works well but impossible to clean.
The hair get stuck around the smallest area (bottle neck) and once it's stuck around, even the smallest pair of cissors won't be able to reach it.

Hair gets stuck
