I love these. Fantastic low calorie addition to soups and hotpots. Very flavourful and great bouncy texture.

Must buy for hotpot and soups

As surimi is to crab legs, these shrimp balls are too jumbo shrimp. A reasonable facsimile of the taste and texture, for a lower price. Personally I really like them, I use them in Thai green curry, and in wonton Style soups, I know they are very popular in Hot Pot as well.

I enjoy these shrimp balls by simply adding them to a big pot of rice congee. If you've never tried congee, it's basically a warm and comforting savoury rice porridge that many asians enjoy at breakfast time like hot oatmeal, or when feeling under the weather, like chicken soup. 
Congee is often made with yesterday's leftover steamed white rice in many households, or can also be made from scratch with a ratio of 1 part uncooked jasmine rice to 7 parts water - or up to 15:1, depending on the consistency you prefer - which is long-cooked until the rice grains are broken down and the texture is nice and thick like porridge. 
Congee can be enjoyed quite simply with only fresh ginger root julienned in, or with various mix-ins or toppings to add interest like crushed peanuts or crunchy peanut butter and some hot chili oil, or fresh corn and crab, or bbq pork, chicken and greens, etc. 
In my case, I often like to toss in a bag of these shrimp balls, which have a natural shrimp flavour and a pleasant consistency similar to a tender bouncy meatball or fish ball, and I quite enjoy them in congee with a shot of hot chili oil. See lots of foodie pics on I.G. @RoadsideGourmet
