Very disappointed — all the apples went rotten the day after delivery.

Bad apples

I eat two apples each day, three if they are small, so I tend to buy a large amount of apples each grocery run. If I'm picking up my groceries myself, then I can reject the apples if they are bad, but for some reason they will only allow you to reject all or none even through they aren't sold by weight. The larger issue is when I order deliver and the apples are bad. 

It's well known that apples sit in cold storage for up to two years on average, which is a shame because buying apples chosen by someone else is tantamount to gambling... the odds are against us if we expect all of the apples chosen to be good. Granted, as the picking season ends, we have the benefit of getting fresh harvested apples for sale, but for the off-season, we suffer with what's available.

What's worse than being sold an apple that is clearly visible rotten? Being sold one that looks decent on the outside but is horribly mealy on the inside. It would be nice if the produce manager trained employees on how to pick fresh fruit. It would be nice if the produce manager didn't put bad fruit out for sale in the first place. The absolute worst label for these Ambrosia Apples is the "Just Picked" label. Of all the labels, the "Just Picked" label is the least flavouful and has the most mealy (i.e. oldest) apples. I had 20 in my last order and only 12 were good.

What's worse, is when you finally get an amazing bunch of fresh or fresh-ish apples, and unbeknownst to me, the staff who picked the apples weren't gentle with them, so the day after I get them suddenly the bruises start to appear all over the apples.

To the Produce Manager in the South Surrey locations, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sell fresher apples and train staff on how to handle the apples to prevent bruising.
