The other stuff had too much flaxseen and the estrogens messed with my keeper puppy having cycles. I had to search a long time to find food without flaxseed. This is the second bag now, pups are 7 weeks old. Firm stools, weight is good and they like it.

Good for puppies, no flaxseed to mess with their hormones.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used Natural Choice on our last two dogs so when our son adopted/saved an Anatolian Sheppard Puppy in Afghanistan I thought we should stay with the brand we used on our other dogs. Dog food from the U.S. isn't available over there so we buy the largest bag of Large Breed Puppy food, fill three flat rate boxes and ship them to him every few weeks. He plans on bringing Bella home with him when he returns next fall and wants to stay with the same brand of dog food that she has been raised on.

This is a great food for large puppy bones.

I did not even put her on a different source of food she has been a nutro puppy since the day she came home from the breeder. They were feeding Ol' Roy. Eve's first couple of days were pretty gassy but we got through it and now she will not even sniff at other dog foods. I have to pack dog food along with the kid's stuff. she and my senior dog are doing great on this food.

There is no better choice for a puppy.

I hail from the island of Puerto Rico, where at the age of 4 weeks I was taken from my mother and left with an elderly couple across the island.

They did all they could to care for me, but I was a handful. We, yellow lab mixes are sweethearts; however we do tend to get into all sorts of trouble.

One day after I had turned 2 months old, the couple's daughter came to visit. It was love at first site for both of us. She convinced the couple that I needed a home that would be able to give me lots of attention and care. Namely hers.

There was talk of being fed the right choice in food and on a schedule would do wonders for my digestive system. There was also some talk of "less p**p", but I'm not sure what all that stink was about.

A week later, I took my first plane ride to Chicago.

When I arrived at the airport I was greeted by my new human family and a bowl of Nutro Natural Choice Dog food, large puppy breed. "Yum".

The elderly lady that had cared for me on the island had told me that I would be "going to the states to live the crazy life".

By the fact that my new family feeds me and my two fellow adopted brothers only Nutro products, I'd say she is correct. My vet has been impressed with my growth this past month and how healthy I am.

Me and my 5 month old puppy brother, a black lab mix share food, biscuits and treats, while our 16 year old Dalmatian/lab mix swears by his Senior food.

If sleeping indoors, having my own bed, weekly bath time, being awarded Nutro treats and served Nutro canned and dry food is "Livin' La Vida Loca", then I'll take it.

I adopted a Boxer/Lab mix from our local APL in March, he was originally fed Science Diet but I wanted to put him on something more holistic. Ever since Hayden switched his coat is soft and shiny, he has tons of energy, and eats every last piece! I would recommend this to anyone.

finally found a quality dog food!

I imported a Cane Corso pup that was having digestive problems @ first i thought it was the flight , Being on another brand BLU for sometime I was recomended to swith to Nutro Large breed and when I did the stools became manageable and the weught he had lost was replaced in no time , He is now 8 months grouwing, thick full of energy, I would recomend Nutro to anyone.

When we adopted our German Shepard Husky mix he was 8 weeks old and I started feeding him Nature's Recipe at the recommendation of a family member. He had diarrhea on and off for several weeks so I tried Blue Buffalo and his diarrhea was better but he was still very gassy (and it was bad!!!). I don't know for sure but the common main ingredient was chicken and I found that almost all large breed puppy food was chicken. When I found this one was lamb I went and got a bag to try it and I couldn't be happier. He almost never has diarrhea anymore and though he still had gas it is not as often or as unbearable! He is now 1 and has been eating Nutro for about 6 months now and I will definitely keep him on this food as an adult dog.

Great dog food!

We had our puppy on another very high quality dog food, that was almost twice the price and about 20% more protein. As she is an Olde English Bull dog and High protein was recommended to us.
She never had solid stool and was always a bit under weight. On her last puppy shot check up I mentioned it to the vet and he said to slowly change her food. With reading reviews, we chose to go with the Nutro puppy and since the complete change over her stools have been solid and she is putting on a normal amount of weight. Super happy with our choice.

The Switch

I have used this food for 4 different puppies, the first two I had zero complaints and they were switched to the adult formula at 18 months and did great, one refused to eat it two years ago, he was a lab mix, but had genetic health things going on and was picky, so didn't think much of it when I had to change him to a veterinary diet anyway. My new puppy is severely allergic to chicken, and while the main protein isn't chicken....the chicken by product and chicken fat still bother him. I love the quality of your food but this is definitely an issue for pups with allergies and food sensitivity. Finding a good quality food that doesn't have any chicken and includes grains isn't easy, especially for puppies. I would love to continue to use this food, however because of the ingredients it's not possible with my current dog.

Good quality, not so awesome ingredients.

For some dogs, I'm sure this is great, but our boxer puppy does not eat it very well. Most of the time she will leave a huge portion unless we add a little warm water. She is 7 months old. Her stools are not formed very well at all and they smell awful. We previously had her on the chicken and oatmeal large breed puppy, and it did the same thing. We have brought her to the vet several times and she is healthy seemingly. I'm not sure what our next move will be. She obviously isn't a fan. Every dog is different and I'm sure it is great for some, but sadly it isn't working for us.
