Can be sleek and thoughtful, but also criticized for cutout and button placement.

Offers additional safeguarding around phone's vulnerable areas.

Cutout size can be uncomfortable to hold and may not fit in pockets.

OtterBox is a really good brand and I would buy it before any other case is the best. They have good prices and you can catch them on sale. I'll try other brands. They just don't work that well OtterBox last like it says Auto shell skin whatever it is is very hard and doable so it's OtterBox case cases.

Have been using otterbox defender cases for the last 15 years on phones and tablets. They are the toughest cases and I have never had a device damaged. My only complaint on the 16 pro case is the camera button hole. Why?!?  It is the most annoying thing ever. Why leave it exposed? It bothers me enough that I really want to change cases, but I am afraid my phone won't be protected with something else.  It gets touched unintentionally ALL the time. It is awkward to hold and just all together a terrible design. If there was a different option that was the same durability I WOULD DEFINITELY CHANGE.

Please redesign and cover the camera button

This is my fourth Otterbox case and I'm disappointed at the large gap opening/exposure for the new camera button on the right side.  Sure, I'm a little concerned about that Achille's heel for damage, but I also don't like the giant opening and lack of trim on top when you pick up the phone or use it in your hand.  I realize the designers had to leave an opening for the new tactile camera button, but it just seems like the case should have had a rail on both sides (top and back) for your fingers to utilize.  The giant opening only leaves a slippery case, not a tactile surface.

Otterbox iPhone16 Pro Max case is so-so

The magnet isn't strong. It doesn't connect securely. The case already looks trashed because everything sticks to the material. Grant it, I have a somewhat dirty job as I am a mail carrier but I bought an Otterbox because of it. When it first came in I loved it! The color was pretty. I ordered the denim blue. I haven't even had it for two months and it looks awful. The dirt and dust sticks into the texture. I am quite disappointed. The outer shell doesn't even fit that securely. Big let down, Otterbox.

Big Disappointment

95% of the case is great, just like my previous cases. The problem, I've had with this case is the cut out for the new camera button on the side. There's nothing protecting the edge of the phone at the top of the cut out. I keep my phone in my pocket and have had my screen protector break because I leaned against something that put pressure on the unprotected area.

I really enjoy the defender series. 

HOWEVER,
OtterBox Defender Series Pro for MagSafe for the 16 Pro Max is horrible because it has an open space o part of the cover.

I don't even need that open space- what is the point of that?? The whole idea of a case is to keep everything secure and covered -

I understand that Apple put a camera button there which is completely unnecessary because we have the camera button on the face of the screen, hence OtterBox made a case with an open area, but they should also offer something without it being open because it defeats the whole purpose of a case 

ALSO,  

the current 16 Pro Max case is hard on the finger when you're swiping up or side to side because the lip is too high.

HORRIBLE

Don't buy this case if you work in harsher conditions. The cutout is a good feature but, if you put your phone in pockets the edge of the screen protector gets hit and cracks. I've had to replace them two times already and going to replace the case with one that doesn't have the cutout.

Bad design

Long time fan of OtterBox Defender. When I purchased my new iPhone 16 pro max I knew automatically I wanted the the otterbox defender. Once the case was installed by service rep, I was surprised to see the miss protection lip part over the camera action button. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a shot. I'm now on my 3 protection screen that keeps cracking in the area by the camera button with no protection. I'm now searching for a new phone case. I cannot recommend this product!

Dissapointed

I used to love the defender cases. They have always protected my phone unfortunately with the new iPhone the design that they chose for the cut out leaves the front of the phone open and vulnerable and I have already broken my screen there. We'll be getting a different case looks like they have another style case that protects the button and the screen fully.

Customer Service

Camera button not protected. The side camera button isn't protected at all and a good inch or 2 of the phone isn't protected. Otterbox says their engineering team didn't research saying this won't impact things… and yet my phone already has a crack in this area because of a drop where the phone wasn't protected. This case is terrible.
