I dont really know how to review an onion but I'll give it a shot. This onion had a beautiful semi round shape, slightly elongated at the ends, nice bright color, firm, and very tasty.  It came with some dry protective outside skins, that when removed revealed a beautiful bright purple (NOT RED) onion. It sliced beautifully on my mandolin slicer giving me perfectly sliced rings which I used to enhance the flavor of my chicken wrap. I also added some to my salad and it was delicious. The last bit found its way into a stir fry along with some red %26 green peppers, and mushrooms.  I served that on a sliced hogie bun with an Italian sausage link. Very delicious. It was the best onion I ever ate, and fear no other onion will live up to this high standard.  I should probably just give up eating onions, as no other onion will ever compare.  It actually brought tears to my eyes while preparing it. No doubt tears of sadness knowing this delicious onion gave its life to satisfy my hunger. I will forever honor Red's sacrifice, and remember it fondly with every future wrap, salad, and stir fry. I eat.

My kids are picky eaters when it comes to onions but they love these onions! They are crisp, colorful and have a mild, sweet flavor. They are perfect in salads, sandwiches, burgers and in a saute. We also use them in our homemade relishes and bread and butter pickles. They do not have an overwhelming onion scent and are not as strong as a white or yellow onion making it perfect for picky eaters! Highly recommend trying! Affordable on a family budget.

Crisp, Colorful and Perfect Flavor!

I normally use white or yellow onions but I have a few recipes that use red or purple onions. I recently made BBQ chicken and bacon pizza with red onion. The onions are always fresh and my favorite part of the pizza. I also use them to sautee up a pan of asparagus! So delish!

Yummy

I LOVE Red Onions especially when I eat pan fried/sauteed sardines! Red onion, sardines, and lemon pepper seasoning cooked in olive oil: PERFECTION on top of rice. My favorite dish! Try it! Walmart's whole onions are always fresh!

Fresh Red onion

I recently picked up a bag of red onions from Walmart, and overall, I was honestly impressed with the quality for the price. The onions were a deep, rich purple color on the outside with tight, glossy skin that wasn’t overly dry or flaky. When I cut into them, the inside had that vibrant reddish-purple ring with a crisp white center — exactly what you want from a fresh red onion.

Texture-wise, they were firm and solid with no soft spots or bruising. That’s a big thing for me because I’ve bought onions before from other stores that looked fine on the outside but were mushy or starting to rot inside. These felt heavy for their size, which usually means they’re fresh and still holding their moisture.

Flavor-wise, they had that sharp, slightly sweet bite that red onions are known for. Raw, they gave a strong kick in salads and sandwiches without tasting overly bitter. When I sautéed them, they softened nicely and brought out a subtle sweetness that worked perfectly with burgers and fajitas. They caramelized evenly and didn’t turn soggy.

The only small downside was that one onion in the bag had a slightly thicker outer layer that I had to peel off more than usual, but that’s pretty normal with bulk produce. Overall, for a standard grocery run, the quality was solid and consistent. I’d definitely grab them again.

The Amazing Onions

There are a lot of things in this world that are red, but these red onions are purple! Would you call tomatoes purple or would you call strawberries purple? Then why call these here purple onions red?  Sometimes I just don’t understand this world! (I do like purple onions, though. They’re good on everything!)

They Ain’t Red!

This onion was totally fine. A good size and sharp, perfect freahness, I chopped it up and put it in salads and it was delicious. Nothing particularly special about this onion, it was exactly what I wanted and exactly what I expected.  All good.

Awesome onion!

I love red onions but the shopper did not select a good quality onion. The one I received had some visible bad spots on them     
Had to peel a couple of layers away to remove the bad spots.

Produce selection can be improved

Terrible experience. The onions refused to stay put. They started rolling all over the counter, mingling with the bell peppers and radishes. The round shape of the onions contributed to this debacle and I am demanding that genetic engineers re-engineer the onions to be cube shaped in order to prevent rolling, like in Minecraft.

Onions too round

I ordered my groceries for pick up and I guess they did not really look at it. My avacados had soft spots and my purple onion had mold on one end. I just keep forgetting to take it back. Very frustrating
