I just used it underneath my hair that is not lightened (I'm like a medium brown) and you can definitely still see the color. Also this didn't dry out my hair like I expected it to. I accidentally posted this review under the wrong color on my other review! But this is the correct color!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the L'Oreal Feria Multi-Facted Shimmering Permanent Hair Color in Shade 42 hoping for vibrant, shimmering red hair. While the color wasn't bad, it definitely fell short of my expectations. They advertised "shimmer" but the results was more of a very subtle sheen, and the vibrancy wasn't there. It did come with a fortifying conditioner, and thankfully my hair didn't feel any drier after coloring. But, it definitely lost some of its natural shine, a trade-off I was not expecting. While it's easy to use, I wouldn't recommend it to someone looking for a dramatic color transformation with a glossy finish.

The gloves were helpful as well as that you mix everything in the bottle and don't have to get a bowl. Initially the color seemed really blue/purple when putting it on but turned out perfect. My hair was brown before and now a perfect jet black.
