I had previously used the Becel vegan margarine in baking for vegan friends and had a great experience (so much so that my guests actually enjoyed the vegan desserts more than the standard ones!). When I found out that Becel had come out with a vegan, plant-based alternative to butter, I was excited to give it a try as I'm not the biggest fan of margarine. This definitely didn't disappoint. I didn't find that this butter affected the texture or consistency of my baking, but there was a slightly noticeable difference in taste - not a bad taste, but just different from the norm (for reference, I'm also the type of person who immediately tastes when there are artificial sweeteners in something, so my tastebuds tend to be more sensitive). I also liked that this was quicker to soften up than regular butter, which makes it much easier to bake on a whim! I'm so relieved to have found this product and will be a lot less stressed the next time I'm invited to a vegan friend's potluck - this honestly makes it so much easier to whip up any of my regular treats and make it vegan! I was pleasantly surprised with this product. There was no artificial taste to it! The pros with using this over regular butter is that you don't need to make till it softens. This is super soft and you can use it to bake right away. I used this for icing and general baking and cooking and the result were goo each time! The only issues is I haven't seen it a lot in the stores.

I made my children's favorite chicken crumble pie with mix of frozen berries from this plant based butter and they are very picky eaters! There is not a piece left, they ate everything and that says a lot! Surprisingly it turned out much tastier than with butter, this margarine has a very delicate texture, very easy to cook with it. Highly recommend! Perfect for baking!

I used it to butter my toast in the morning and it seems pretty much the same as regular butter. I have yet to use it to bake but I expect while the texture might be slightly different, the taste should be quite close.

I always use butter to bake but decided to use this plant based brick to make muffins. Muffins turns out very good and taste and texture the same as butter. Also it's very easy to spread on muffins unlike butter, need to wait till it's back to room temperature. Definitely would buy again.

I was so excited to try a plant based alternative to see how it compared to the usual brands of butter that I buy. My first impression of the Becel Unsalted Plant-Based Brick was that it looks exactly like dairy butter. It melts really fast due to the oils in it so if you need it to stay cold during baking prep, I found that putting it in the freezer for five minutes really helps. I make my own pie crusts and puff pastry so I decided to put this to the test! The butter was very easy to work and mixed in with the dough seamlessly. I honestly could not tell the difference in taste between this and actual butter. My pie crusts and puff pastries came out crispy each and every single time. Although the price is a little bit steep, I will continue to use this in baking for my vegan friends.
