It took a lot of time to assemble, but it's really solid with all the bolts that they provide to assemble it. Very well made, two young teenage boys won't be able to make a mess of this frame, it's solid tubular steel. We bought the very thick 8" mattress, difficult to fold, but it's really comfortable for the boys to sleep or play upon. They chose the silver grey frame and a charcoal grey mattress, great looking combination. You will need two men to haul it inside and to assemble it. It's large, so you will need a good sized truck, or pay for delivery.  Very reasonable pricing for a top quality combination, there are a lot of other products out there for hundreds of dollars more than what we paid. We used his old mattress on the top, fit perfect.

I bought these for my spare room for three reasons - I have triplet grandbabies and can sleep all 3 on the futon until they are old enough to fight over the top bunk (then 2 down and one up); it gives me extra beds for other guests, and it provides functional seating in my spare room that doubles as a rec/play room.

It went together smoothly - no issues at all.  I needed the assistance of my 12- and 10-year-olds briefly to hold some pieces in place  while assembling the framework, but other than that, this 50-year-old woman did it by herself.  The packaging of the hardware was great - individual pouches for each type nut, washer and bolt, and appropriately labeled.  Tools were included - 2 allen wrenches, 2 flat wrenches for holding the nuts.  The flat wrenches slipped and wore quickly but I just grabbed a socket from my toolkit.   Also, an extra allen wrench was needed for tightening a couple receded bolts, but I happened to have the correct size so it must've been standard (my tool supply is sparse).

In the end, it is a secure unit - it has minor sway with weight on the top bunk during motion, but nothing scary.  The futon movement (from couch to bed) is confusing at first, but once you know how its done, its smooth and easy.

There were some minor paint dings (I got the silver - which is a painted metallic finish - not chrome or brushed aluminum as I thought it might be), but luckily in concealed areas...and for the price and my purposes, I am not complaining.

The biggest downside - in the box, it is SUPER HEAVY.  It was delivered to my garage at my request when I wasn't home.  We dragged to the front porch and up and in the front door, where I opened  the box and carried piece by piece up to my 2nd floor.  Just an FYI.

Perfect extra beds!

Purchased this for my 2 yr old and 8 yr old daughters, as I have a 2 bedroom apt. Didn't know what to expect as I am not that familiar with bunkbeds and this is my first one to own. really sturdy, nice looking *(doesn't look cheap like some) and my girls love it.

Bed went together with ease. Updated instruction set with numbers on the bag of hardware made it real easy.

Pretty disappointed in the packaging and handling! Pieces were pretty scratched up. I covered them with my son sticker collection. If this kind of thing bothers you...be prepared! With light cardboard wrapping the thing I don't see a way that this won't happen.

Warning!!! Only 150lbs on top 200lbs on the bottom.

I purchased this for my 15 year old son because he wanted more room and a "lounge" area in his room for friends. This bunk does the job. It looks nice and is sturdy and we are happy with it. Assembly did take a few hours, and I'm lucky my brother was visiting because there is no way I could have put this together myself. Definitely a 2 person job!!

Nice for teen

This bed looks really cool, my 14 year old son was excited to get it. He keeps trying to sleep on the couch so a futon was the perfect choice. However, I bought this with the 8 inch futon mattress and it will NOT fold into a couch. The mattress is apparently too heavy to fold on this bed, which defeats the entire purpose of buying a futon. 

As for the quality, the frame came with chunks of color (we bought silver) missing all over the bed. Not a small spot or two, large spots on every side. The plastic caps that are supposed to cover the jagged metal parts don't fit properly so they fall out. 

Overall, it wasn't too difficult to assemble, which was a plus. I wouldn't purchase it again or recommend it to anyone.

You get what you pay for

Ok for basics the unit 'works' for its purpose and maybe we got it like this because of the low low walmart prices but alot of the assembly pieces were,either  scratched or dented. A stopper was missing leaving an open metal hole. The assembly manual left more to be desired.   Give yourself 1 to 2 hours assembly time that was with 2 people  using the tools in the kit! Goodluck

If price is your priority this is your buy, um...?

I was very disappointed in this purchase.  Walmart would not direct ship without a fee, so we had to ship to store and pick it up.  Customer service was rude wondered why we did not ship this to our house because it was awkward and heavy for them to move, well guess what not so easy for us at home with only two people either.  Then when I started to unpack it, it was damaged. The paint was chipped on every single piece of the frame. I thought about trying to return it and thought about what a hassle that would be to try to tape the box back together seeing as we cut the top of it completely off, and hauling it back the 2 hour drive to the store not to mention the awkwardness of trying to get it back into the back of the truck to do all of this.  So we bought a can of spray paint to try & touch up all the damage. Not a good experience at all!!!

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED

Do not recommend this product. Took over two weeks for delivery,  on top of that was not ready to be picked up on delivery date, three days later it was. Was a big item so I had to use the truck to pick up at the store, due to zip ties and completely covered in plastic could not inspect the product before getting home fully. Upon getting home taking the plastic off discovered at least three big dents with paint chipped off of it. Along with many marks over each piece.
Not a product that you would call new with all the damage that was done to it, poor quality once again.

Poor Quality

Bunkbed was a great price but packing of product was bad,it had no foam or bubble material inside box to stop the product from scratching or denting and notice all the dents after i began putting it together and already threw the box away so now im stuck with a ruffed up product.
Other than that it looks cool and saves alot of space so check your product before you leave the store to save you the headache.
