I really loved my bookshelves. I used them to display my 1:18 scale diecast collection. Unfortunately they were only up for about 5 months due to my basement flooding severely during a storm which broke my heart. I would love to replace them when my basement is all fixed and would also like to find a solution to make them floating shelves up off the floor so if it floods again I won't lose them again. Thank you.

For this type of bookcase, it's well-constructed: everything lined up exactly as it should and the connecting hardware all slid easily but firmly into their holes, slots, etc. My handyman skills are next to nil and I had no difficulty putting it together due to both the construction design and to the very clear and concise instructions. Each step is fully outlined and diagrammed on its own separate page.

Besides books,I'm using it to hold some of my art supplies, receipts/records/paperwork and to display items from my collections. I have a need for a table that I'm going to place along the same wall and there'll probably be ample room left to place another of these bookcases there. If so, I'll pick up that second one and set it right next to the first.

honestly a steal. you can find so much more expensive shelves but these are both deep tall and have adjustable shelving options. highly recommend. yes it is a little wobbly. I recommend anchoring it to the wall. other than that this is a 10 at a 10 shelf for the price.

The bookcase is sturdy and it is advisable to use the security system to prevent it from tipping over.  The instructions are easy to follow.  Be sure to count the hardware items.  We were shorted on the backing nails.   The bookcase looks suit the bedroom where we have placed it.

My bookcase

We needed a new home for our books and the room theme was black and white. The size was perfect, price was right, and assembly was too much trouble. The arrival time was crazy fast too, bless their hearts, we order multiple.  The were books up and off the floor on the same day as arrival.

The shelf looks great for all my knicknacks and plants. My husband put it together and said it was very easy to assemble. It looks great in our dining room area. It is also very sturdy, doesn't wobble at all. It was a great deal for the price. I might get another one. Haven't finished putting my books and other items yet.

Great wall shelf!

My grandson put this together in know time. It is easy on your pocketbook and for those who are needing extra storage in any room, this is an easy fix. We plan to use it in the bathroom and will do a few home improvements to make it more sustainable for it's purpose. We are well pleased with the purchase.

They feel cheap and like they won't hold up but we just went through a move that involved going up some stairs and they survived. I have had these double stacked with hardcover books and the shelves aren't bowing. The backing is flimsy but I think it is important to the structure so I've left it on.

Great bookshelves for the money.

The Mainstays 5‑Shelf Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves is a very budget‑friendly, lightweight MDF bookcase that looks clean and works well for light–moderate storage, but it's not built for heavy loads or long‑term durability. For the price, it's genuinely solid just expect basic construction and take your time during assemble.

Back panel is thin, must be nailed carefully to avoid bowing.
Expect 45 to 60 minutes to assemble.

Good bang for the buck,

decent for the price. the back is thin cardboard that got bent during the building process,  its still usable just not as pretty.  also the nail holes on the back didn't line up the way they were supposed to so the wood got split in a few spots. again still usable just not very pretty.  other that that though it looks nice and it was fairly easy to put together, the instructions are very thorough.

I  put the shelf together. instructions are pretty straight forward however quality of shelf is not great. it is so easy to tip over and  very flimsy even after trying to reinforce screws. I feel like i wasted my time building this shelf and I won't even be able to use it because of how flimsy and unstable it is. i am very upset because now I have to find a better quality and more study shelf.
