Wood components may be prone to damage, impacting overall product durability.

Very useful way to create more storage space for little money.  I feel I got my money's worth with this purchase.  I used one for a bookcase and art display. I used one shelf set to turn a small closet into a pantry storage area. Easy to put together. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I know these are bookshelves but I used them to redo my son's closet and it worked like a charm. We removed those awful wire racks and placed these instead. They are super sturdy and hold all of his stuff. They only took a few minutes to assemble by myself and then anchored them to the wall. So far they are holding up great and many of my friends have used them as closet storage as well.

I bought a total of 4 bookcases easy to put together with minimum tools however if you don't line the backing up correctly you will have an issue with that however adding rods in lot the ones without the back should give it the sturdiness I'm looking for

I'll start this off by saying I have gotten a lot of shelf's from Walmart. I don't normally have an issue there sometimes a little wobbly but nothing that can't be fixed. This shelf though for some reason would not stand up straight. Completely sideways. It fell knocking everything over and smashing into other things I had the gaming room. You might be able to make it and might not have as bad of an experience but we couldn't get it to work.

Iffy

The most wobbly shelf I have ever seen. Looks like it'll disintegrate if someone bumps into it. We aren't able to wall mount it since we're renting, though, so that might detract from the overall sturdiness. Regardless, it's difficult to imagine a single nail will do that much to keep it together.

Buyer Beware,

As a student engineer making this purchase, here's my experience and two cents with this bookcase. I was gonna use this to put my heavy, volumnious books on it. 

Delivery and Package Opening:
Received a moderate sized package, roughly 35lbs to lift myself. 
When I opened it, there were some boards that were chipped (please see pictures) on the edges. 

Assembly: 
- Tools Required: Hammer, Drill, Drill bits. 
- It has all the nails, dowel manuals and required assembly material.
- I followed  all the steps in the manual to the letter with the step-by-step guide provided.  
- This was easy but tedious to assemble. 
- Now the main problem rose  in Step 9: the Cam Lock insertion turned out to be a problem. It doesn't line up symmertrically,  it's  "askew."

Structural Integrity: 
- Wobbly. It doesn't instill confidence. 
- I imagine if I put my voluminous and heavy collectionbooks on it, it'll topple. 
- Shelf Adjustability feature is pretty nice, but they're just resting on shelf supports (provided) which again, don't inspire confidence in stability of the product. 

Aesthetics:
- Pretty Standard dark wood look. 
- Chipped edge on main non-adjustable board. 
- Chipped edge on some of the adjustale boards. 
- Nicely blends into my apartment colour scheme. 

Conclusion:
- I know, it's an inexpesnvive cabinet but the Q%26A checks failed on this.
- This will work, but only temporarily. Buy nice or buy twice is the lesson I've learnt from it. 
- This could've been better but given the price point I don't think Mainstays is gonna listen to this constructive critique.

Cheap garbage. Not only did it arrive in a box that was ripped almost all the way down to the middle of the cardboard, exposing the material, but now that I've finally put it together it's just flimsy and cheap. The back doesn't properly line up, leaving an unsightly gap between the shelf.

I have set up so many cheap-o bookcases just like this. I have bought and assembled previous models of this same bookcase. I have had no trouble whatsoever until this specific model. The cam bolts immediately shattered upon attempting to very gently turn them, and yes, I positioned them exactly as instructed–with the minus on top and plus on bottom, both closest to the screwed in edge. now, I have to disassemble and return this heavy piece of literal trash to Walmart. This is beyond frustrating.

The thing I like most is the price. I think I paid $35 or so for it. And that's where it ends. The little  cam lock things? You get 4 of them, and 2 of mine crumbled. (see pic) And trust me... I'm not a strong person who just tightened them too much. I'm pretty weak. They are the cheapest crap. Next... I'm nailing the backing onto the shelves and hoping it helps sturdy things up, and it did. But when I inserted a shelf into the unit it knocked half of the nails out of the backing. I'd laugh but I'm too disappointed right now. I'll laugh next week. And you may be thinking you get what you pay for, and you're correct. But c'mon. How much would it have cost to use cams that don't crumble, and maybe nails with a bit more "head" so the backing doesn't just slide right off.

The directions were pretty clear. It said 1 person can put it together and it will take an hour. I did put it together solo, but it took me 2.5 hours. Not a big deal. Would I buy it again? No. I've purchased so much budget put-it-together furniture in my lifetime and the quality of these unit is just the worst. And I'm referring to the hardware. The actual boards/shelves are pretty decent for the price.

FYI: You'll need a phillips screwdriver and a hammer. That's it.

What a peice of garbage, I did not notice until asembeld that the grease spots could not be wiped off with WD 40, they are in the particle board, and the white finish on the thing are so thin you can see the particle board right through it, Dont waste your time or money on this, it's junk, but assembled, -------------so how can I return this?---How do I get a refund, and someone to pick up this junk?
