Do I need to create an account to place an order?
You will need to provide us with basic information, such as your name, address, telephone number and email address to place an order, but you do not need to create an account.
Do I need to save a credit card on my account to place an order?
No, but creating an account and saving your information makes checkout fast and easy. Please be assured that our website is secure and your credit card information is encrypted.
Placing Grocery Order
How do I find fresh Grocery products (milk, fruit, bread, etc)?
If you're having trouble finding Grocery items, it’s possible that you’re trying to look within Walmart's general merchandise section. Try this!
- Locate and click the green "Shop Groceries" link in the navigation menu bar near the top of the page. Clicking it will bring you directly to our Grocery category.
- If you’re in an area which has stores that offer Grocery PickUp, you’ll instantly be able to shop for fresh food – like milk, eggs, meats, vegetables and more! If not, we may ask you to confirm your postal code so we can check if there are any stores near you that offer this service.
- If you’re already in our fresh Grocery category but decide you want to look for items outside of Grocery (electronics, apparel, etc), simply click on the “Shop Walmart” link in the same navigation menu bar near the top of the page. Clicking it will bring directly back to all general merchandise on Walmart.ca.
Top Tip: You will always be able to toggle between our general merchandise as well as our Grocery category at any time during your shopping experience. All items in your shopping cart will be saved.
What are the available pick up locations?
Is there a minimum order value to be eligible for Walmart Grocery PickUp?
Yes. Your total order must exceed $50 (before taxes).
Are there fees for using Walmart Grocery PickUp?
No! There are no longer any fees for using Walmart Grocery Pickup. It is absolutely free.
Why did the price of my order change after I was given a quote?
Some grocery items are priced according to weight (such as fresh produce, deli meats and cheeses, fresh meat, fish, and poultry), so the final price of your order may not be the same as the price quoted at the time your order was placed. Please know that we will never charge more than the price you are quoted at the time your order was placed.
When is the full amount of my order charged to my credit card?
Your credit card is charged on the same day of your order Grocery PickUp.
Will you Ad Match grocery items?
Yes, we will! We are happy to match any grocery competitor in your area that has an online flyer.
We will gladly Ad Match with proof of the current in-store retail price of any local competitor’s ad (digital) for an identical item provided that the item is in stock. This is not applicable to used or refurbished items, clearance sales, combination promotions (e.g. gift with purchase), double or triple coupons, after-sale rebate offers, preferred customer discounts or random discounts (e.g. scratch and save events) offered by other retailers, or to competitor misprints or withdrawn or corrected advertisements. We reserve the right to limit quantities. Our “local competitors” and ‘identical items’ are determined by us. Walmart’s Ad Match program may be modified or withdrawn at any time without notice.
How do I make an Ad Match request?
Ad Matching can only be requested once your order has been placed.
To submit an Ad Match request, follow the steps below.
- Visit our Ad Match link by clicking here (or copy and paste //www.walmart.ca/admatch into your web browser).
- Fill out the form as completely as you can, with your first and last names, email address, product name, order number, the price you paid for the item(s), and the link to the ad you would like to match. (Please click here for detailed Ad Match criteria).
- Click “Submit” and your request will be forwarded to our Customer Service team. It takes 2 business days to complete.
Once your request has been processed, you will be notified of either a reimbursement to your credit card or an explanation outlining why we were unable to honour the Ad Match request.
Good to know: Incomplete Ad Match request forms will be sent back for additional information, delaying the process. Please complete the form with as much detail as possible before submitting.
Can I use coupons on my order?
At this time, we are not able to apply manufacturers' coupons to your Grocery PickUp.
Shopping & Scheduling PickUp
How far in advance can I place my order?
You can place your order up to 21 days in advance.
Is there a cut-off time for ordering?
Yes. The cut-off time for PickUp orders is 1:00 a.m. on the date of your desired timeslot.
If my total order is $50, why do some items qualify for Grocery PickUp and other items do not?
Most grocery items qualify for Grocery PickUp. Other items, such as non-edible or non-perishable items can be delivered through other couriers (like Canada Post or Purolator, for example).
What is the difference between Pantry and Pickup?
To ensure that items in your cart will be delivered to you instead of packed for store pickup, please make sure that you’re shopping from a specific department, such as ‘Pantry’ or ‘Health, Beauty & Pharmacy’ and not from ‘Grocery PickUp’. Click on the ‘Shop All Departments’ link at the top left hand corner of the page and then the department you want to shop.
If you’re ordering food items and want home delivery, be sure to shop from ‘Pantry’ instead of ‘Grocery PickUp’.
If you’re ordering items and want home delivery, but sure to look for “In stock online” and not “PickUp Eligible” at the bottom of the product listing.
Why can’t I buy everything online that I can in store?
Due to regional variation and storage limitations, we may not be able to have all items available online at all times. You can be confident that we are always adding items to meet your needs. If there is something specific you’d like us to add, drop our Customer Service team an e-mail at email@example.com to let us know. We’ll do what we can to list the item for you.
Will I be able to use my own reusable bags?
Your items will be ready to load directly into your car and will be packed in Walmart plastic bags. You are free to use your own bags, but you will need to transfer the items from the plastic to your bags.
What’s a substitution?
When you place a Grocery Pickup order online, we offer you the option to accept substitutions on your order if an item happens to be unavailable or out of stock at the time of fulfillment. In the event that we don’t have the product available, we’ll always substitute it for an equal or better solution at no additional charge to you.
To opt in for substitutions, just make sure that in checkout you check the “Yes, I accept substitutions on all my grocery items” box and you’re all set. Alternatively, you can also choose to opt out of a substitution for a select product only. You can do this by simply unchecking the “Accept a substitution for this item?” box next to a single item in your cart.
How are substitutions selected?
We’ll always substitute an out of stock item with the next best available item. See our guidelines for replacing an item below.

- The same brand, same quality, or bigger size
- An equivalent brand, same size
- An equivalent brand, bigger size
- A better brand, same size

Do I pay more for substitutions?
Don’t worry, we’ll never charge you for a substitution! In the event that we don’t have the product available, we’ll always substitute it for an equal or better solution at no additional charge to you.
How do I find out about substitutions for my order?
There are two ways you can find out about substitutions for your order:
At checkout before you place your order, we ask if you’d like to opt in for substitutions on your order. You’ll see a field where you can select “Yes, I accept substitutions on all my grocery items”, so you’ll know that if something happens to be out of stock or unavailable, we’ve got you covered. Alternatively, you can also choose to opt out of a substitution for a select product only. You can do this by simply unchecking the “Accept a substitution for this item?” box next to a single item in your cart.
1. Your Receipt Email
If you agreed to opt in for substitutions on your order, you’ll be able to see if any substitutions were made on your Receipt email that we send you.
What happens if I’m not satisfied with a substitution?
If you’re not completely satisfied with a substitution we’ve selected for you, you don’t have to accept it. That’s part of our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
If you’re picking up your grocery order through Walmart Grocery Pickup, you can review the substitution(s) made in your order at the point of pickup with one of our Associates. If you choose not to accept the substitution(s), the Associate will keep the item and you’ll be refunded. With a Home Delivery grocery order, please call our Customer Service team directly at 1-800-328-0402 after you’ve received your order. Let them know you’re not happy with the substitution(s) and they’ll be able to refund you for the item(s).
What if a substitution can’t be found?
Great question! If we can’t find a suitable substitution for you, we simply won’t charge you for that item. We recommend you check back with us to see if the item you’d like is in stock.
Where do I go to pick up my order once I’m at the store?
The Grocery PickUp location is indicated on the eReceipt that you will receive in your email on the morning of your Grocery PickUp timeslot. Each location will have different designated Grocery PickUp areas, so make sure to check your eReceipt!
What happens if I miss my Grocery PickUp timeslot?
If you happen to miss your Grocery PickUp timeslot, please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-328-0402 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. EST. One of our Associates will help you reschedule your order.
For the consideration of other customers, please pick up your order during the selected timeslot. If you will not be able to pick up your order, please contact our Customer Service team as soon as possible so alternate arrangements can be made.
What if there is a problem with an item after picking up my order?
Should you have a problem with any item included in your order, please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-328-0402 option #5 or at firstname.lastname@example.org . One of our Associates will be more than happy to assist you.
What is the return policy for perishable items?

Freshness matters to us, which is why our Associates will only pick the freshest products available, and pack your order with care.
Due to the wide selection of items available, our freshness policy does vary by item and department. Every product we pick for you will be chosen with the best dates possible and will be delivered to you well within the manufacturer’s recommended best before or expiry dates.
If a product from a supplier does not comply with our quality standards we may choose to substitute an item (if applicable for that item) rather than deliver to you. We are as conscious about quality as you are, and we will only pick items that we would choose for ourselves. Should there not be a suitable substitute product, we will refund your money in full for that item.
If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with the quality and freshness of your order, please contact us You may also bring the item back to a Walmart store with your receipt, and we’ll gladly refund your purchase or replace your item.
How will temperature sensitive items be stored after my order is prepared for PickUp?
Our stores have areas dedicated to hold refrigerated and frozen groceries at the required temperatures until you arrive to pick up your order. You can be assured that all temperature sensitive groceries will be held at the required temperatures, as laid out by the health department.
Can someone else from my household pick up my order?
Yes. If someone else picks up your order, we will ask for the name on the order, the address, and the order number. If you would like someone to pick up your order on your behalf, please ensure they have this information.
What happens during hazardous weather?
Our drivers’ and customers’ safety and well-being are our primary concern, and we would never do anything to put either in danger. Our drivers are trained to handle various road conditions, but sometimes it can be just too dangerous.
If we are forced to cancel Grocery PickUp times due to weather, we will contact you as soon as possible, and you will have the option of either cancelling your order or rescheduling for a later date.
Hazardous driving conditions could include, but are not limited to, heavy snow/blizzard conditions, freezing rain, flooding, or traffic issues (major accidents, road closures).
Can I tip my Walmart Grocery PickUp Associate?
Our Associates will not accept tipping. Although we appreciate the gesture, we believe that courteous, prompt, and proficient service is what makes Walmart Associates unique.

What is Grocery Delivery?
We recognize that not everyone can get out to our stores to get their groceries so we’re now bringing the groceries to you! Grocery delivery allows our customers to select a delivery window and have their groceries delivered right to their door.
Will you deliver to condos/buildings?
Yes. We will deliver your groceries to your home, whether you live in an apartment/condo or a house. Where permitted, in an apartment/condo building, we will deliver to your suite. If that is not possible, you will be asked to meet the driver in the lobby of your building. We will not leave groceries with the concierge.
What is the Grocery Delivery fee?
The fee is $9.97 for picking, packing, and delivering your order.
Where is Grocery Delivery currently offered?
Our Grocery Delivery service is currently in pilot phase and our service areas are limited at this time. We currently deliver to customers who live within specific postal codes.

Who will deliver our Groceries? Will it be a Walmart Associate?
In some areas, your order will be delivered by a Walmart truck and driver. In other areas, your order will be delivered by our crowdsourced delivery partner (Joeyco).
What measures are in place to ensure proper temperature control?
Refrigerated and frozen items will be packed in special carriers to ensure that their safe temperatures are maintained. You can be assured that our drivers never will never be in transit for more than 45 minutes, ensuring safe temperature control for all of your groceries.
Is there a minimum order amount for Grocery Delivery?
Just like Grocery PickUp, the minimum order amount is $50.00 before tax.
What happens if no one is home during my delivery window?
In the event that no one is present for your delivery, your order will be returned to the store and cancelled in our system. To receive your order, you will need to log onto your account on walmart.ca and replace the order for a future date and time.
Can I cancel my order?
If you know that you will not be available for your order, we ask that you contact walmart.ca’s Customer Service team at 1-800-328-0402 as soon as possible so that the order can be cancelled. You can then replace your order on walmart.ca for a more suitable future date and time.
